    dvd player question
    im completly new to all this home theater stuff and have a question about dvd players, and cd players.
    if i buy a dvd player, can i get it to play both audio cds and dvds on my unit? or do i need seperate components to do this?

    Yes, any DVD player will also play CD's.

    99% of dvd players players play cd's as well.

    dvd-a and sacd is a different story though, are you talking about just standard cd's?

    i know that they can play cds, but can i have it set up for both dvd and cds at the same time? im looking at the yamaha dvdc940

    You'll be able to play both formats without having to do anything special. You can rotate the disc and you won't have to do anything to the player to tell it which media is inserted. The unit itself will be able to tell which media is inserted.
