    Can someone explain upconverting, etc

Hi, I'm most likely purchasing a new Infocus SP4805 DLP projector. However, I have some questions about the DVD player I'm using. I'm currently using an older Pioneer non-progressive scan DVD player with component outs. I've noticed that newer progressive scan players have DVI outs and also do upscaling. What's the deal? Is the DVI connection always better? What about upscaling, do I need that, or is that something the projector does with the Faroudja Chip?

A little bit of confusion and not sure if I need a new DVD player, thanks!

I am assuming that TV can up convert DVD signal to progressive or HD signal.

Going by above assumption, the only difference will be whether DVD player with DVI output can upconvert the signal better than the TV since TV is basically be doing the same function. That question will not be answered unless you try it out. If not, then take the DVD player back.
