dvd flashing

i have noticed on all dvd players , when you go from a light shot and back to a dark scene you get a whiteish flash. It lasts around a millisecond, just as fast as you blink , because blink and you miss it. anyone know what it is?

I made this same suggestion when this post first hit. What kind of TV do you have? Going from bright to dark is challenging for digital displays, since even when something dark occurs, the light is still on; it just has to be redirected or suppressed. The flash could be from the TV not adusting quickly enough to the new information. I can imagine it happening with LCD, DLP, or even plasma (even though plasmas aren't always illuminated, light to dark can leave a trace).
