Yamaha RXV-1400 or new Denon 2805

Any one have any info/experience yet with the brand new Denon 2805? Looking at it or the Yamaha 1400. Going to be used for 80% HT and 20% music.

Haven't seen the 2805 arrive in stores yet, so if you're looking to buy immediately you might have to wait. On paper, it's virtually identical to the Yamaha, but has a list price $100 higher. The one feature that goes in the Denon's favor is the manually adjustable equalizer, but I checked their website and turns out that it's a graphic equalizer, not a parametric EQ. So, I would not put too much stock in that.

In evaluating the two receivers, you should take a long look at the setup menus and the user interface. Those are probably bigger differences than anything else (aside form the DSPs) you'll find. And if you can find any huge differences in sound quality, that evaluation will have to wait as well for the 2805 to arrive. If it's anything like previous incarnations, the performance will not differ by much.
