    Cheap Region-Free DVD Players

I'm not sure why, but there seem to be a lot of inexpensive ($30-$60) no-name dvd players that can easily be converted to be multi-region playable. I bought a Nexxtech for $40, and it plays everything, including (don't laugh!) my Flash Gordon Silver Anniversary Edition from the UK. It also has more features than my Sony I guess the next issue will be how long it keeps working...
Why doesn't Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer and other big name manufacturers incorporate this feature into their sub $100 players?

UPDATE: One drawback, which caused me a major headache, is that this dvd player does not support dts audio. I thought it was my receiver, but later realized there is no setting for dts, only dolby digital. The fact that there was no dts logo to be found on the player should've been a clue. I was under the impression that all newer dvd players had dts out.
I still think it's a great, feature rich dvd player. If you're a Dolby fan and can live without DTS (I can't!), it's worth it. I'll just be using it as a backup and to play international discs.
