A few different considerations have to be weighed to answer that question. One is your price range, generally a receiver will cost less. A receiver should take up less space. Generally separates can yield better performance and be a little more versatile. Will this be for just home theater or will it be for both that and music? With the answers to these questions and doing some listening you should be close to making a decision.

Good to have you on the forum with us. Hope I understood your question.

In addition to the questions already asked, what speakers will the receiver or separates be used with?
