Apex AD-1225 DVD-Player on sale at Sears for $29.99.
This week only. The catalog # for DVD player is 57123.

The way prices for DVD players are going, pretty soon they will be given them away :)

Where you been, Free DVD players have been gong on for the last few years (mostly when you buy something else). Apex is not an A or B grade unit more like D/F but as a bedroom or kids unit it will work fine.

    With all DVD players.....
With all DVD players approaching throw away status, it is getting harder and harder to distinguish one from another. For example, ConsumerReport evaluated 28 DVD players from Pioneer to Hitachi to Apex, and all of their picture quality was rated Excellent :)

But I'm thinkin, the question of reliability will raise its ugly head and eat the Apexs of the world. This would includes being to reliably play all DVDs with out skipping, freezing, etc. Have a good one

The link for this product says the player is "Dolby Digital and DTS READY"...does this not mean that DD and DTS soundtracks cant be supported by this player?

Unless buying a Denon reference player for $3,000 or whatever it is in Crutchfield now, most players are dirt cheap; picked up my VERY VERY GOOD Panasonic for somewhere in the 100 dollar category when I bought my whole system...

All it mean is that it can not decode DD/DTS internally, but it will output it via digital output :)

At 29.99, your getting to the point...
....where long term reliablity is not an issue.... The shipping costs of a fully warranted quality unit would cost that much.If you look at the reviews of all DVD unit here...the expensive have almost as many problems as the cheap stuff....
