Cool What somebody needs to do

Everybody talks about HD and BLU like they were the only HD formats.
But MICROSOFT HAD ANOTHER, a format based on a red laser.
IT RELIED ON CODECS, instead of hardware, and a few discs were actually sold.
I have one of these, a documentary on the funk bros, I had one of terminator II
    but lost it.
You need a computer to play these, and it was really just an exercise.
But SONY is listening to the wrong people, keeping the price of their players
high, when even at 300 bucks they'd sell a lot more.
CHINA IS WORKING ON AN hd PLAYER, and the market is crying out for a HD player
    on the cheap.
So someone needs to start selling MICROSOFTS VISION of HD disc, an inexpensive player that would play these type discs.
They were working on one but it fell by the boards.
they used to sell aluminum christmas trees with a rainbow light wheel shining on it,
I am sure they could sell one of these.

I have no idea either, but I'd just as soon leave MS out of anything that has to do with high quality a/v reproduction. IMO it was Toshiba that listened to the wrong people.

As far as Blu-Ray player prices are concerned, I'd say Sony's in recoup R&D costs mode right now.

    Cool

if I remember it was based on WMA.
It was quite good, for a red laser based format

But if Sony doesnt cut the price of players, they will be undercut, isnt that much diff between a blu and a DVD hardware wise

I do remember about 4 months ago reading an article by this one company based over seas about their new "Red Ray" HD player that was soon to be released. This new Red Ray was to be even better and performed better that Blue Ray. But I never heard anything about it again. Could this be the same thing you are talking about pixelthis?

Could be, if you want to get into HD disc on the cheap you need a good codec so you can use a red laser, then its just using a DVD player and software.
I posted on the news section about something called "memfile" of something like that, and will research it.
It can hold a terabyte of info, apparently.
BUT really, HD HAS BEEN OUT AWHILE, CANT WE DO BETTER THAN A 400$ TAG FOR PLAYERS?
I know the tech is more advanced than that
