For a 50" Plasma, What Would You Give Up?

I saw this news release today and thought it might be an interesting subject for a thread. I won't make a comment myself because my wife is right here looking over my shoulder!



....."LONDON (Reuters Life!) - Nearly half of British men surveyed would give up sex for six months in return for a 50-inch plasma TV, a survey -- perhaps unsurprisingly carried out for a firm selling televisions -- said on Friday.

Electrical retailer Comet surveyed 2,000 Britons, asking them what they would give up for a large television, one of the latest consumer "must-haves".

The firm found 47 percent of men would give up sex for half a year, compared to just over a third of women.

"It seems that size really does matter more for men than women," the firm said.

A quarter of people said they would give up smoking, with roughly the same proportion willing to give up chocolate.

What percentage of those questioned were married? (47%?)

I guess a lot of these men willing to give up sex, would be looking at porn on the large screen and playing with their dog :nono:

I'm sorry, what am I missing? A 50" plasma 1080p can be had for less than one of my paychecks. I'm not giving up 6 months of women and "VSOP" for that. Who did they poll, British newstand clerks???

Assuming clothespins, restraints, a digital camera, and a riding crop were involved I wouldn't give up an hour of sex for a 50" plasma.

$3000 tops

OK....I sort of got suckered into this one.

I just thought some light humor would follow what I thought was a funny news release. Didn't know I would open up this can of sick worms. My apologies.

Now to continue on in a normal path with some of my own thoughts:

I would give up talking to my ex wife for 100 years for a new 50" plasma. Now that's a real sacrifice! I'll throw in my ex mother-in-law for good measure!

Yes, but nothing I could post on a public forum such as this.

i'd give up about 2 grand...

no but really, the tv is nice, but for 6 months of sex no thanks.

i'd give up my saturdays, get a part time job at an electronics retailer, have the tv in less than 6 months and keep the sex :)

Ironically, if prosecuted, he'll wind up in a correctional facility where both the TV and the sex are free of charge. Whether or not he'll enjoy the quality of either is the regrettable issue.
