    Question $600 and a dream...

Alright here's the deal. I have $600 to spend on a used/new Flat panel HDTV. I know thats not much but Ive been scouring craigslist and I've seen some decent ones around that range. It would be ideal to be in the mid 30's to 40's in size and have at least the capability of 1080i. Would anyone have any suggestions? Many thanks in advance for any help.

For $600 you can not expect much, but if you hurry Circuitcity have OLEVIA 32" 2 Series LCD for $499 for this week only.

I can beat that, office depot has a 37in olevia for 699 after rebate, trust me an extra five inches is worth it.
And theres a lot of no-name stuff out there if you're a gamblin man (electro somethin or other from short circuit city has a 32in for 500$_)

Okay its an "element" and you can get a 26incher for 450 or so.
And dont knock 26inches, I watched my 19in samsung comp monitor hooked up to the
cablebox with a hdmi-dvi cable while I was between tvs awhile back and it wasnt that bad.
As for not exoecting much WHY NOT?
The market is really getting cutthroat and a lot of these come from the same factories, the olevia you were talking about has hdmi and a 1600 to one contrast ratio.
AND its 600 bucks! Wasnt too long ago any LCD would cost ya at least 900

Olevia seems to get good reviews TigerDirect.com might be worth a look see. Target also carries Olevia. My input though is to look for user backlight adjustment, your eyes will thank you.

great advice, I love that little feature, in a darkened room its a great contrast booster,
sometimes I turn my "light" down to as low as fifty

I'm surprise Pixel you didn't offer advice on the Vizio's. Wal- mart is carrying them now and the 32" is around $500 and the 37" is $600-700.

    HOW quickly they forget.
My first set was magnavox, 19in, which was considered decent.
I paid 700 bucks (2100 in todays dollars) for the 20in version of sonys first XBR, couldnt afford 1200 for the 26in.
PEOPLE who say it fell inlove with it, you could control color temp, a split screen showed the diff between settings, and it had these cool speakers hanging on the side, hat it two years and sold it for six hundred, and the screen was FLAT, pretty big deal in the early eighties.
AND they had this newfangeled thing, didnt need a needle to play music.....
