Question need speakers for HK PM640

im using my dads HarmonKardon PM640 stereo amp from the 70's and i'd like to buy a pair of speakers to go with it.

i want the highest quality i can get but i only have a few hundred to spend. i've been looking at bose 201's and 301's mostly and i need more ideas or some opinions on those.
i believe the amp is 240 watts but im not 100% sure. here's a link to the owners manual for the amp, which i found on the HK website: http://manuals.harman.com/HK/HOM/Own...al/PM640om.pdf

they'll be set up in my basement bedroom, which is a good size for a bedroom but still pretty small, not more than 200 sq ft. with carpeting over the cement foundation.

any help you can give would be great.

You might look online for a vintage speaker setup. I just found a pair of McIntosh XL-10's for $250 in good shape that sound really sweet. If you want something new - don't overlook Axiom and some of the Cambridge Soundworks speakers that give someone on a budget some pretty nice sound.
