Whats The best three headphone rigs you've owned?

I love headphones. I le the detail, I love the warmth, and I love the fact that they give you the same sound as the best speakers at a 1/123048123094129034580123485th of the cost. No added complications. Just you, your headphones, and the music you love.
So enough about speakers on this website already. Give headphones the credit and attention they deserve. Learn to enjoy the simplicity of the best, inexpensive, uncomplicated sound you get from headphones. I'd like to know what the three best headphone rigs you've owned are; One in the 500dollar+ range, one between a hundred and five hundred, and one under a hundred...Or something to that effect.
    Mine are as under...
    1. The Grado Rs1 paired with the Headroom Millet tube amp.
    2. The AKG701 coupled with the Headroom Total Airhead.
    3. My Grado SR80 with my Ipod.
    Cheers!

    1. Apogee Scintilla and DIVA in Nearfield (only speakers known to me more detailed then Stax Electrostatic headphones)
    2. LAMBDA-Classic II SR 303

Lots of music but not enough time for it all

Because 'stats have an unfair advantage? I recently bought Sennheiser 600's, only to find that they did not quite measure up to my vintage Stax SR-5's. Close, though.

With that restriction, the 600's did sound excellent with my X-Cans version 1 (with upgraded tubes).

Much more affordable are my Sennheiser 280-pro's plugged into an MCS 3830 amp. The 280's sound better than they have any right to, for the price. The 3830 is a small, low-powered integrated with insufficient power for most speakers, but it shines as a headphone amp. I reccommend both.

I have also used Proton 300/301's in nearfield, a speak about a foot and a half from each ear, that is, to the side, and they sound wonderful. This rig also lacks the head-clamp factor - very comfortable.

BTW, speakers have become a minor thing for me.

No, but I'd like to. However, a chance to hear AKG K-1000's would be better.

I like headphones too, but no way do they give you the same sound as speakers. Which is "better" is a matter of opinion, but they are completely and utterly different. The room has a HUGE effect on your sound. It sounds more lifelike, more spacious, and more luscious to my ears.

Personally, I prefer the sound of my speakers, all things considered. And I'm the owner of Sennheiser HD 650's plugged into a Benchmark DAC1, so it's not for want of quality.
