You know the answer already, Mike, or at least part of it. The main reasoin is that in my considered opinion different connectors will make no audible difference, or if you wish to follow strict formal logic, are unlikely to make an audible difference.

There is a second reason, too: frankly, I don't know what brand some of them are, I've had them so long.

    Question Dark pictures

In comparing the pictures posted so far, I find harleyx's and gonefishin's to be extremely dark and E-stat's on the dark side. My pictures probably look really washed out in comparison.

I think this probably is most likely due to how we each have our monitors set. I have the Photoshop software which I used to calibrate the settings on my home monitor, although it is not an exact science. The end result is that the colors are quite vivid. The same pictures on my monitor at work don't seem to have as much impact.

I cranked the brightness of my pictures I posted up a bit to better see the equipment, so they aren't totally "accurate", but it looks to me by the pictures others have posted that they may have the brightness cranked up too high on their monitors. Am I in the minority here?

I've brightened up one of the posted pictures so I can see the equipment better. I attached the result to this post. So my questions are...do most people think the other pictures are just fine?...are the other pictures dark just because the posters have no means to correct them?...how many other people "calibrate" their monitors.

P.S. The "adjusted" picture of Gonefishin's system I attached looks really washed out to me, but it allows me to see the equipment rather than providing an accurate color rendition of the room.

Yea, it looks fine on my monitor.
Oh well, I brightened it up a bit. Photoshop 7...great program, if I knew how to use it...)

Glad to provide the laughs [least I'm good for something]. But seriously I believe it is important for everyone to disclose such data as equipment history, experience or educational background so that the readers can make a more informed opinion about they're credibility. For instance, when someone discredits a particular brand or equipment type it would be relevant to know the extent of their exposure to the equipment in question. Of course, the decision is entirely your's as to what information you choose to provide and the reader's to evaluate.

    Unhappy

I had hard time taking my pics. My room is really dark and if I used the flash on the camera it would either wash everything out or if I got a reflection it would auto dim. If this happened it would be so dark you couldn't tell what was what. I only have a 3.0 mp camera.

What I did was put post my system picture and description in this thread and put a link to the post in my signature area. I think this is a good alternative, except for the fact that the capability to edit one's post beyond a 24-hour timeframe has been turned off. Can we change that, Chris? Is there any particular reason for putting that restriction in place?

    alright

    Receiver:Marantz SR-5200
    DVD: Samsung 5 disc
Front left and right: Jensen C-7 , put new mid and tweeter in there so now it has a 1" titanium bulet horn tweet and a 3" midrange cone that was lieing around. It the next month or so I'm just gonna buy a Bohlender Graebner planar mid/tweeter to replace the midrange, and maybe I'll put in a bullet as a super tweeter. I'll also get rid of those crappy Jensen woofers and get some nice Goldwoods.
Center:Old optimus cabinet, Goldwood 5" woofer and audax tweeter, I'll see if can put a bullet tweeter in there soon.
Surrounds: DIY 6.5" woofer and Piezo tweeter, the high frequencies sound terrible, so again I'll put in a Bullet.
subwoofer: Not really a subwoofer, but gets me down to the high 30's, it's a folded horn with a 6' path and a 12" driver. Called "The Konk", It was a good PA speaker in the early 80's. It goes extremly loud and if you stand up while playing it loud, if feels like someone is literally punching you in the chest in this 10 by 12' room.
Amplifiers:Old Pioneer bridged to 150 watts for the center speaker. Also I have an Audiosource Amp Three bridged to 400 watts for the subwoofer.
Game systems: PS2 and the Xbox.
TV: 32" RCA, the one with the vport is use for the xbox

Yes i do know i'm very spoiled with having a Dad that would give me the subwoofer, surrounds, and center he made. It also helps having brothers that are willing to help pay a little for some of the equipment.

This is the kind of system I like to see/hear. I bet it's loud as hell, too. One question, where do you get all your JBL drivers?

    Hello Joey

Got most of the drivers from Ebay. Took a while to get them all together but it was worth the wait.
