It's a listening test, you do not need to see it to listen to it!

far better than it used to be..

I've been listening to internet stations mostly from Shoutcast servers for a long time. In the beginning the sound quality was sktechy but better than nothing. Now that broadband connections are common and server capacities have risen, quality has risen beyond FM qualtiy in many cases. Hopefully we'll see the day when WiFi blankets most areas well enough to support mobile listening.

As soon as the technology becomes widespread and convenient... It will of course be ruined by commercialism just like the airwaves... or they'll charge you for it!!!

I do like internet radio now though... Keep it on quite a bit...

There are a commercial free radio stations on the internet. Some are delivered by a contact point, like Live 365, and require a subscription to assure access. The music channels are usually very specific, narrow casting if you will. You'll find channels dedicated just to Hawaiian slack key, just delta blues or just surf music or just lounge/martini music. Try Live 365 via google to get started and see if you find your type of music.

Most commercial radio stations broadcast programing over the net. You can find these by google search simply type the station call etters and frequency like KSBR 88.5, which will take you to the station website where you'll find a link to the live broadcast.

A lot of us have been listening to our favorite music played by commercial free radio played through our audio system for years. While the quality of the broadcast has improved its far from the cd quality.

Let me also catch you up on another audio avenue: Pod-casting. Some folks are creating programing-like their own personal radio show-and setting it up for downloading off the internet to your ipod. This is not necessarily just music. Some offer travel advice, new car reviews, movie reviews some local governments offer audio of public meetings for download.

    I hope this is helpful

I absolutely love internet radio! I don't even own a receiver or tuner anymore.

It's opened up my musical world tremendously. I hear stuff I never would have heard otherwise, without commercials, without annoying DJs, etc.

    Some of my favs:

Radioio ambient, as well as a lot of the other radioio stations
    SOMA
    Original electronic music collective
various Live365 stations (Attention Span Radio -- great fusion and modern jazz)
There's an audiophile born every minute. Congratulations; you're right on time.

Yes, internet radio is played on your computer, provided your computer has a sound card and has speekers or headphone jack.

You can connect your computer to your audio system as you would a cd player, tape player or ipod. So in addition to playing your music collection using itunes or similar you can play internet radio through your audio system.

With a Squeezebox, you don't even need the computer! Sounds better too.

Humm ... haven't been much tempted

I get very good reception on FM of the only radio stations I regularly listen to -- CBC Radio One and Radio. Radio doesn't get much better than that, and I get good receiption with the tuners I've got. Principally, I listen to my vintage analog Denon TU-500 in my main system.

Oh ok,I got an I-pod nano and I burned most of my CD collection on to the computor and then to the I-pod.The I-pod is neat as I can carry around my music where ever I go.Also in combination with my Sennheiser PX-100 portable headphones the sound quality is very good comming from such a small device. Also I have the Bose Companion 3 speakers and can listen to the music through I-tunes without incerting a CD.
