CSW T300/Onkyo SR701 Sub Woofers humming big time!

Using Onkyo SR701 with CS T300 and S300 +MC300 for HT. T300 subs work fine when not connected to receiver sub-out (driven only by regular speaker wire).

But...when connected to receiver sub-out, the subs hum really loud on their own, even when no audio is playing. Its a deep electrical hum which can be manipulated by the sub controls on the back of the speakers, but never goes away. Loud enough to be scary. The hum starts soon as the link in/out is connected between the L and the R sub-woofers. Am driving sub-out from receiver into L speaker, then connected from L into R. As long as I don't connect L to R, there is no hum.

Wondering if something is wrong with cable or perhaps the sub woofers.

    Any takers?

    Thanks!

    Sounds like the dreaded.....

subwoofer hum problem. You've most like a "grounding" problem on your subwoofer or receiver. Do a search here on the term "ground loop" then follow the recommendations. More'n likely you'll just need to go to Rat Shack, get one of those cheesey "ground liftt" thingy's (it's that rubber thangy that changes a three prong to a two prong and has a place to ground it to the outlet) and that should solve your problemo.

    Hope this helps...
