Signal Transformer makes some of these.
Read label for voltages, get same physical size (Digikey sells them). Try page 13 of the PDF (5.9 Megabytes)

Puchased via recommendation from Kex, who gave it a good review as well.

Soon I'll be able to find out how well this amp delivers the dB's I'm reaching for hermanv. I hope to have it integrated over the weekend after I rearrange the furniture... again. Once this amp is in the audio cabinet neither the cabinet nor it will be moved again for a VERY long time. Very heavy it is. :yikes:

It runs very cool for an amp with a 1500 watt power supply.
Neat thread!

The manufacturer's website has this amp listed at $499.00. :eek6: That has to be a misprint, right ?

Okay hear we go. It's a close up of my DAC. Can't see any Burr-Brown chips though.. Perhaps on the underside?

Sure looks like an all through hole design, there probably won't be any chips on the underside.

Can you explain? Actually I should re phrase, shouldn't there be a BB chip?

I am not familiar with the product, so I can't comment on the IC complement. I am very familiar with electronic assembly; through hole cost more than surface mount, both together cost the most of all. The soldering process for the two mounting techniques are radically different. Most designers will not mix the two technologies without a very good reason.
The side of the PCB that's is visible shows not even a single surface mount part and the trace width and spacings are normal for through hole. A surface mount PCB design tool will default to much smaller trace details due to increased part density. This doesn't make it impossible that there are no surface mount parts on the other side, just unlikely.
Texas Instruments bought Burr-Brown some time ago, I assume the Burr-Brown logo is no longer in use.
Hope that helps.

Look for the designation OPA-2604. They claim the opamp is interchangeable which should mean it is socketed. Easy and cheap switch if not. If I get really motivated, I'll remove the Manley DAC / tube line stage and show it topless.
I really wonder if the Chinese understand the acronym F.U.B.A.R. and why they chose that name!

Hey I didn't know that acronym:)
As for the DAC, I put the top back on so I won't be looking right away. Not that it matters a whole lot.

If it sounds good, the other issues just don't matter at all.:biggrin5:
You know what they say about curious cats and gift horses.:biggrin5:
