I think it looks better if you get 12" x 12" pieaces, and glue gun panels to pieces of cardboard. Forget about Adhesive sprays, it will fall off after 3-4 days.
Not the best, but it turned out okay. Since I live in an apartment so I cannot nail a crap loads of holes. I used Command Mounting Strips by 3M. That stuff is awesome. They come off real clean and hold nicely.

Parts Express has foam acoustic wall tile, 12"x 12", in boxes of 16. You could configure them any way you want. Price is $49.50 per box.
Happy Hunting!

I have no experience with ones from parts express but seems like a
ripoff compared to a package I got on ebay.

48-50 sq/ft $51.00 + shipping

16 sq/ft $49.50, ??shipping??
But if your budget is over $500 get wild.

I'll consider this style for our studio. For my audio system I'm looking more towards some cloth covered panels. My wife would kill me if I put foam on our living room walls.
I found some 2' x 4' cloth coverd online priced not too bad at http://www.acousticalsolutions.com/p.../alphasorb.asp
And some 12" x 12" on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1
If you buy 6 shipping is only $18.
