    right?

So i have a pretty good reciever, let say a Denon 3805 or better. So now i'm looking for a DVD player for music and video's. Do i look for the video spec's or the audio spec's? Good video spec's but poor audio wouldnt matter as i use the digital and take the player audio out of it? Then i guess that changes if i want SACD or DVD-A?

What are your priorities? Go with what is most important to you. And don't rely on specs alone.

For me the sound quality of my video-based DVD players is secondary. One of these days I may try one of the upsamplers that are said to approach HD quality, but I use a couple of disposable $70 Toshiba DVDs.

A good D to A isn't cheap, never pay for two of them.

In other words get a receiver with a good DAC because most outboard DVD etc. will not let you route other digital sources through their DAC.
