    Outdoor speaker setup
We currently have a Sony str d715 and we installed 4 infinity outrigger jr. speakers outside, used 14 gauge wire and the speakers are 210 feet from the receiver. We are getting very poor sound from the speakers...flat and no quality at all. We are not savvy at all with this so any assistance would be great

Are you sure the polarity is correct. + to + and - to -. That can get switched on long runs of wire. Are you running 1 set of speakers on A and the other on B?

Check the connections as Jack said. If they are all correct, try connecting the speakers to a shorter run of speaker cable to see if the distance is the problem. If it is, then you could try 10g wire from Blue Jeans Cable -- Quality Cables at Reasonable Prices or get a receiver with some current, like a Harman Kardon 3490 that is a high current design at 45 peak amps. It will have the oomph to go the distance unlike the Sony. I would still use 10g cable with it though.

You might be doing nothing wrong. It just might be the nature of the beast.

The job of a speaker is to move air. The smaller the roon, the more, and generally better, the sound you get. Speakers always sound "smaller" outside when they have to move lots of air in an open space.

These speakers are 4" in diameter. That's basically a small table radio. Even in a small room they are gonna sound a bit thin and lack dynamics.

Also, 210 feet is a heckuva lot of speaker wire and is going to dissapate a lot of your available power over it's length, particularly when you consider you're running a four (I'm assuming) ohm load. Likewise, you most likely are losing some of the highs as well over that distance.

Sometimes, a big boom box really makes sense.

There may be small room and volume may be high.
Also you can reconnect your speaker device.
