    New stylus
Hi guys, i'm a bit new to this so i hope someone can help.

I have a sony PS11 turntable that has been in storage for a number of years.

It always worked really well and the sound quality was good.

However I have just set it up again and found that the stylus is damaged, i have sourced a new one but i am not sure how to fit it.

Can anyone help with fitting and i would also like to know what people think of this particular model.

It is direct drive semi automatic.

    Regards

    Pete

Although I'm not familiar with that turntable, I did see the stylus online. It looks to me like you would just grip it on the sides and pull out of the front of the body of the cartridge, directly away from the end of the arm. To install the new one, you would just push it back the way you pulled the old one.

This site could likely advise further:

Scroll down to see Sony replacement stylii. If I've spotted the correct one there, it appears it has a 0.7 mil conical tip. Higher quality stylii are generally narrower, such as 0.3 mil x 0.7 mil.

you could also go for an entirly new cartridge. Older styli are often harder to find, and more expensive than what their performance offers.

Look at Ortofon for their offerings, or Shure.

    Keep them spinning,
    Bert.

Bert makes a good point. Is this photo the same as your turntable? I was hesitant to recommend a new cartridge without know what kind of cartridge it might be. In this photo, though, it looks like it would be a normal half-inch mount. Following Bert's lead...some good cartridge options for not a lot of dough would be the Shure M97XE, Ortofon 2M Red and the Audio Technica AT95E.
