    Is Country music dead

I listen to country music if it is good, especially from yesteryears. One of my local channel is TCN (Country Network) that play country music videos 24/7, and let me say what I hear makes me puke.

The songs and rhythms are boring, with lyrics that don't fare better. All they seem to sing about is trucks, hearthaches, drinking and shorts wearing females (or daisy duke ).

Country music used to be good, enjoyable and soothing for the soul that is definitely missing from today's country music genre. So I am sending my RIP with a wreath

It is in my house except for a few artists Cd's like this Grayson Capps which is probably more blues than country-

I agree, much of country music is boring and monotonous. I prefer country music stars that sit down and play the acoustic guitar not the over produced electronic crap.

I have never been a Country music fan. New country, old country, country and western. I like very little of it. I have a friend who used to be professional musician and left music many years ago to raise a family and move on to other business ventures. The economy forced him close his most recent business and he decided to get back into music...as a song writer. He travels to Nashville on a regular basis to attend country music song-writing workshops. He posts some of his lyrics and songs that he's recorded on-line. I find most of it really cheesy and boring. If this is what he's learning in the workshops, it is a sad state of affairs IMO. His song writing was much more interesting 20 years ago when he just did his own thing instead of following a formula. But it seems that the formula is what is required if you want to sell your songs.

You might say my heart is in Austin, not Nashville.

While they are often confused, I'm more into western,, western swing in particular. Bob Wills and Hank Willims may be gone, but their mantle has been passed on to the likes of Asleep at the Wheel, Hank III (not II), Waye Hancock, not to mention Big Sandy, The Lucky Stars, BR549, The Derailers, Kay eEnz, Rosie Flores, and the list goes on.

Setting up Pandora with some of these can provide some good listenig, some new, some old.

Real country music has been dead for years. Today's formula is as follows: take a pop song with a pop arrangement and pop instrumentation, add a pop vocalist with a SLIGHT southern accent (it helps if they look like lingerie models) and lastly, overdub a pedal steel guitar. Voila! Instant Country!

Hank Williams influence is definitely apparent with these bands. That was one particulare country music genra that I never warmed up to.
