Is my old Yamaha receiver worth repairing?
    Hi there,

Brand new here, and I have a question. I have a Yamaha CR640 receiver that I bought in 1980. Stupidly, I had it out in my woodshop. It lasted a while out there, but one day she had enough of my abuse and quit on me when I fired up my tablesaw. The lights dim momentarily too, when the saw is turned on. Should I think about having it repaired, or replace it?

    Thanks,

    Bob

The old Yamaha recievers are very nice, it seems strange but you can pick them on e-bay really at bargain prices VS say old Pioneers you may consider buying instead of repairing. The only weak spot on some of the Yamahas was thier tuners were not on par with other brands.I am not familar with your model but would like to find a nice CT 7000 those were great.

I think price points have changed a lot since 1980 and if this is just for your woodshop, then I think you can pick up a decent entry level Yamaha for about as much as you'd pay to repair yours, shoudl you even find someone who could repair it.
