Looking for large DVD Rack

One of my friends neighbor build many of his furnitures. He has all the tools. He built desk, bookshelves, file cabinets, audio/video racks and stands, dvd/cd racks, shelves, and many other things. He built these using the best wood he can buy. These units are solid and looked like decorator pieces. The only problem was that it takes him a long time to build anything. He does it part time as a hobby. I was thinking of paying him to build some racks for me but I know I won't see the racks for least six month.

I'd like a nice large rack also. Anymore pics available?

Here are two picks of my audio rack that I built for under $100, using birch ply and solid wood.

It was very easy to build and I like the way it looks personally over alot thats on the market sold as Audio racks.

In this forum it's acceptable behavior for a member to admire another's equipment.

...here's a simple, cost effective solution. It consists of 4 pieces of 1x6 in a rectangular shape, and hardwood dowels spanning the distance between the sides. You can make it as tall and as wide as you need. Keep in mind, the wider you make it, the thicker the dowels need to be. I used 1/2" and now wish that I had gone for 5/8ths. The spacing of the three dowels (higher in front, lower in back) gives me the option of standing the jewel cases straight up or leaning them back. I have the cd cases on top standing straight, and the dvd cases on the bottom leaning back (easier to read them from above). The whole thing can be attached to the wall with L brackets.

No, not at all. One day to cut and glue together, and then a few more days to put a finish on it. About 15hours of work spread out through 4 days.

These DIY projects are nice. Too bad I don't have the tools.

If you have a saw, a drill, a screwdriver and a pencil, you have all the tools you need to build mine.

And a ruler! Remember: measure twice, cut once.

Oh how many time I've measured once and cut twice, three times, or more....
