For those wondering where I've been...

and for those I owe money too.....

I'm not dead (but me wife might dispute that)

Hope alls well with those ole and new members alike...I've been on a vinyl rampage for the last 6 months and I think me CD player has been played 3 or 4 hours in the 5 months or so. I've picked up 800 LP's or so....everything from 60's folk/rock, 70's rock, 80's new wave, even a few movie sounds tracks ie Nighthawks (by Keith Emerson) and I must admit I've been having a BLAST...the real killer is that music I wouldn't have been caught dead listening to (never mind BUYING!) in the past I'm really enjoying....I listened to Neil Diamonds "The Jazz Singer" and really really enjoyed it..(man am I getting OLD!) but I wouldn't have in a gazillion years picked up that CD but some how I've got the album in MINT condition......weird....really weird but just so much fun....ok...nuff fer now.

    nice seeing ya'll!!!

    Peace, Pogue

    One great thing about LPs...

...is that they are cheap! You can have any run-of-the-mill CDP and and torture yourself buying $15 CDs, or a killer vinyl set-up and purchase $.5-$1 LPs! Seriously, I always stop and say to myself "do I really want this CD..." lol.

Not to mention LPs can sound REALLY good...

    Hey Poguester!!

I've just recently discovered the joys of unbelievably cheap albums myself, I feel like that guy on Woodstock (heck, on more than that! ) : "I must be in heaven, man" !

How are you cleaning them? I finally bit the bullet and bought a "Spin Clean" record cleaner, boy, I should have bought it months ago. Got it Thursday and spent the WHOLE WEEKEND cleaning lps - I think I got about 250 give or take done. They sound a ton better than hand cleaning - I highly rec this cleaner!

Neil? lol I saw that movie with dear old mom, she was a big Neil fan. I secretly confess that I, as a child of the latest 70s/early 80s, have occasionally snuck an occasional ktel album in - will you take me to funkytown lmao.

Good to see you again, bud!

    Pete

    Talking No "music" bargains....

But I did build a total brand new puter from scratch and rebuilt my old one for the kid. I'm pretty much on hold speaker wise. I've no room for any of the bargains I see on ebay. Just can't do it. No real reason to get any new electronics either. Sigh, wot a revoltin' development. I've plenty of vinyl myself but haven't played any in years. Don't know why, maybe it's time to dust off the old record cleaner and see if I can git religion too.

    Da Worfster.....

PS, it is good to see one of the old guard again.

    Pogue -

HOW DARE YOU! The cheating heart speaks, you've been spending more time listening to music than evaluating gear! How utterly disappointing!

Seriously though ... 800 LPs?! Geez, you've basically doubled my vinyl collection, and most of mine took the better part of 15 or so years to accumulate! In a way though, it is fun trolling around used vinyl sections (especially the ones that are trying to dump their remaining LP inventory for ridiculously low prices) and taking chances on music that you would never even think about risking $16 to buy. During the transition phase to CDs when vinyl collections were getting sold off right and left, I got quite a bit of 80s vintage punk that I would never have thought of buying brand new or on CD. But, uh ... Neil Diamond?!
