I dont know much about speakers , so someone help me out
my computer speakers died so i decided to just get a couple of audio speakers this time for my pc. i have a tight budget 200 - 300 so i wanted to get JBL Control Extreme 1x http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=18828 and AUDIO SOURCE Stereo Power Amplifier Amp 100 http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4021738 . Would this set up work? i can use that as computer speakers and how bad/good would that sound? also will i be able to connect a base later to that amp?
The Insignia's a good bet..
I bought a pair yesterday and listened to them off and on for a couple hours. Since they have bananna plugs, it was easy to swap out and listen side by side with my Legacy Audio Studio-i's and Atoms. The Insignias sound a little warm (but not unpleasantly so) and acoustic guitar sounds more realistic with the Studio-i's and Atoms. There's also a subtle hollowness to the sound compared to the others but I have to say, the differences weren't dramatic. The Insignia's are shockingly good at this price point and even compared to speakers costing many times what the Insignia's do. This should be a wake up call for anyone that thinks they have to spend hundreds or thousands to get a good pair of speakers. Even at full price, they're still a good buy. At sales prices of about 35 bucks, they're a major league bargain. At this price point, and as computer speakers in the near field, nothing I know of will touch them. Regardless, if the Atoms or Titans are in your budget, I'd listen to those first.
