    homemade speaker stands
Speaker stands can be pretty expensive. Any reason why one couldn't make their own out of wood, fill 'em with sand, put little spikey feet on 'em and paint it with silver sparkles? :)

as long as you have the equipment and the time, theres no reason you couldn't. might want to go to a store and take a good look at all you'll need and exactly what your getting in to

    good luck

Recommend you use cat litter unless you properly treat sand for insects. Non scented, unused cat litter is more dense too...
I'm actually building another set of speakers, extending the cabinets because it was easier to do than building stands. The cat litter has worked excellent in the cabinet prototype.

I've had good success with PVC pipe filled with clean sand as well in some home-brewed stands.

    Have fun.

you can buy sand at the store

    1) sandbox sand
    2) sandblasting sand

I got sandblast sand myself, but I dont think there is any difference. Sandbox sand also comes in the more expensive coloured variety too!

Both are clean and they only cost a few bux a bag.
