Stuff that followed me home today......

Went out with my son looking for vinyl and found almost everything but vinyl. Picked up a Marantz 6150 TT for the garage for $25 and at a church yard sale they gave me a KM-991 amp for only $5. Neither piece is any great shakes but I liked the look of the Marantz and figured I can find a spot for the amp somewhere. At another spot they were selling Cd's for 49 cents so I grabbed some Peter Gabriel "Secret World Live", Rickie Lee Jones " Traffic from Paradise", Toad the Wet Sprocket "Rarities" and Vertical Horizon "Everything You Want". But according to my son the best find of the day was a Magnavox "Odyssey II" Video Game system in the original box with all hardware and about 7 games. Looks like a night of tunes and Pong.........

Man, you live in a great area. I believe that Kenwood amp is from a rack system but who cares it was practically a gift. I'd like to get an amp rack and put a system together for the garage and outside.

Yeah I have to agree with you Mr.P. I think because of the large military population there is an abundance of gear that becomes available and often at thrift store or Craigslist prices. I forgot to mention that I passed on a Kenwood KA-3500 amp and KT-5300 tuner that a thrift was offering for $50. It was a really nice silver face (circa late 70's) pair in excellent condition with all lights working. But I have no place for it and I just don't want to go through the hassle of "flipping" gear just for the sake of a few bucks.

I did match the KM-991 up with my Basic C2 pre-amp and it sounded really nice playing some of the new CD's but I think that reflects more on the quality of the C2 than the amp. I think because the top is vented so much it would be a dust magnet in the garage. I am going to add it as a separate amp for the center channel in the main HT.

Will probably run by BB today and pick up a cheap Audio-Technica stylus for the Marantz. It has a surprisingly quiet drive. It is going into my son's room instead of the Dual 1019 which will now happily stay in my 2-channel set-up.

Same thing used to me but my wife kept getting ticked off so I figured it was cheaper all the way around if I stuck to only stereo gear ......

Is that what your parents did to you Auric to get the neighborhood kids and pets to play with you?

If so, the neighborhood kids must have been working girls.

Just 'cause Auric uses an Eq is no reason to dump on him. Uh, maybe it is.

I like Salami, although I like Pepperoni even more.

Sliced Pepperoni with Extra Sharp Cheddar on Stoned Wheat Thins accompanied by a nice bottle of wine and my "stellar" company is what makes the women stay. Alright, I admit, it's mostly the wine.

We need a reason to dump on Auric?

I didn't realize you could pay working girls with Tender Vittles.

After seeing the direction this thread has turned I can at least draw some satisfaction that my latest foray into budget gear has produced a wealth of ammo for the regulars....

I pity the fool who Google's info on the next KM-991 search and finds a thread that goes from the amp to dating techniques with deli meats and cat food.... but hey isn't that really what the internet is really about in the information age..........

LOL. I some how doubt this is exactly what was in mind when the internet was thought up. We did jump the track here pretty quickly.
