While I wait for a phone call, I thought I'd see if anyone else had any ideas.
NAD L53, 11 months old, does not usually recognize CD's and when it does it skips.
DVD's, however, seem fine.
This is a fairly new issue.

I'd be getting my receipts and packing material together and searching for the nearest factory repair facility effens I were you.

While I applaud the compactness and styling of combination units like this, I generally avoid them. If one function breaks and proves uneconomical to repair, one is left with a partially functioning piece of gear. With separates, one could always pick up a standalone unit to replace the broken one.
