DENON AVR-1804 setup ?

Evidently I am not doing something right here because I can't figure out how to adjust channel output levels without the receiver's internal Test Tone starting. I want to set levels using a calibration disk in the DVD player. I can get the Test Tone on the calibration disk to start but the internal Test Tone is also going at the same time. I read the manual but it is not very helpful.

DENON tech support was helpful. They e-mailed the following solution....

While playing the disc, use the [CH SELECT] button on the REMOTE to select the specific channel; its abriveation will appear on the front panel display, (e.g. FL for Front Left, CNTR for Center, SW for SubWoofer, etc.).
WHILE the letters are still displaying, the CURSOR buttons will change the level. This level will remain in effect whenever using the same surround mode.
