Any good cd's out for christmas music? I'm getting really tired of this Irish christmas carols my mom plays all day, I was thinking of getting her a new cd. Any of you guys and girls know of any good, well recorded discs that have some nice christmas songs on it? Thanks.

Hi Joey. Not sure if you like the Moody Blues or not, but they released a Christmas cd recently. They did a nice job. There are some originals and covers. The cd is called "December".

I'm not big on Christmas music, mainly because most of it seems to be too commercial. I do have a favorite disc, but it's at least 30 years old, so likely wouldn't meet today's high-quality sonic benchmarks. It's "The Little Drummer Boy" by the Harry Simeone Chorale and I've seen it in the bargain bins at some stores. Two others high on my list are Amy Grant's "Home For Christmas" and George Winston's "December", which isn't REALLY a Christmas album, but has some Christmas stuff on it. All are available on CD.

What's your favorite type of music? Rock, jazz, country etc?

There's a bunch of good holiday cds available. There are lots of good compilations by country artists, rock artists, jazz artists.

I have 25 or so, and here's some of my fav's from this collection:

-A Charlie Brown Christmas - Vince Guaraldi Trio (great Jazz)

-Christmas Island - Leon Redbone (great jazz/ragtime sound)

    -Christmas Island - Jimmy Buffett

-A Jazzy Wonderland - compilation of Jazz artists (Harry Connick Jr., Branford Marsalis, Tony Bennett, etc.

-I also have a compilation (can't remember the name) but it is full of songs from Rock artists - Paul McCartney, Moody Blues, Ann & Nancy Wilson, etc.

Go do a little shopping. You'd be surprised how many good selections are available.

Check out Harry Connick Jr. "When My Heart Finds Christmas" I think is the title.
