budget headpones
I have in ear headphones and all that, but I am looking for some closed headphones, that i can wear on trips and stuff.
I have read a lot about the Grado SR60's, however, they aren't closed. I kind of want to just be able to hear my music.
So, my priorities are:
price
sound
closed
any suggestions? The Grado's seem so popular, I just don't know if I can do an open headphone like that.

Audio Technica ATH-A500 would be well worth consideration ;)

You can find some very nice AKG K-240's on Craigslist. In my experience, AKG's phones are comfortable and sonically very pleasant to listen to. At 50 or so bucks, it's nearly a no-brainer....

I have Sennheiser HD 280 and I've seen them sell for around $100. I picked mine of used brand nib for less. Although I haven't travel with them they are closed and really do let you hear all the music.

Check out the HeadRoom site. The have detailed reviews and descriptions of many (not all) of the available headphones.

Have you considered in-ear headphones? I love my Etyomotic ER4s because they make the world go away. You can actually hear the music and movie dialog on an airplane. They're also durable and compact. Perfect for traveling.

noise cancelling 'phones
is what i would get. yo9u get something like 30db of outside sound reduction. denon, sennheiser, bose (in this case bose IS good).
