Talking thought i'd share my newest addition

I bought a Proton AA-1150 amplifier, seems to have some good specs:

    A or B: 4-16ohms

    A + B: 8-16ohms

    280w/450w/600w @ 8/4/2 ohms

DPD - Dynamic "Power on Demand"

not sure what the DPD is, but I love the old analog meters!

    cheers!

I`m trying to figure out where the 280w/450w/600w @ 8/4/2 ohms specs come from. Is this not a 50w per channel amp????

Proton amplifiers were known for very conservative power ratings. Their circuit design made them capable of extremely high dynamic power output (i.e., on short-term musical peaks). This could make the Proton models sound just powerful as amplifiers with a higher continuous power rating (and greater cost) but lower dynamic power output.

Thanks for your help. Does this mean that the 280w @ 8 ohms is the dynamic power rating?? Im hoping that my proton AA-1150 will power a pair of Dahlquist DQ-10`s ok.

Yes, the 280 watts is dynamic power.
