    Question DVD audio setup question

This question has to do with the audio format choices that are available when the DVD movie (or in this case live concert) is loaded: I had the option of choosing between Dolby Stereo, which I've never heard of, Surround 5.1, which would match my equipment, and Dolby Digital, which is the option I thought was what I was applying. My receiver lit up the PCM light and the Dobly Digital light, but the speaker array lights only lit up the fronts. I used the Neo:6 sound field on my receiver, but I think it only detected this Dolby Stereo format from the DVD changer. My question is, what exactly was my receiver receiving from the DVD?

    Thanks
    Rich

You most likely have to change a setting n the DVD player.

Search your audio setup menus for an option that lets you toggle between "PCM" and "Bitstream" and change it to the latter. PCM sends out a stream that's equivalent to a two channel DC while Bitstream is used for other multi-channel formats.
