70's Yamaha receiver & CD player compatable?

I know the receiver has no inputs for a CD player, Can I hook up to the phono inputs? how will it sound?
This is just a basement system, not my mail unit. just need a CD player to jam along with my guitar playing.

For anything but a phonograph. Use the Tape inputs instead. It should work just fine.

If you have no other choice then the tape inputs will work but, you also can use an "Aux" input as well.

You''ll overdrive the bejeezus outta that poor phono input and it'll sound like H-E-double hockeysticks. ...that's NOT a good thing, as Martha would say.
