    4 ohm speakers 6/8 ohm receiver?
    Does this work or hurt my receiver in any way?
    just wondering before I go out and drop money on some speakers.

    It could work if you only keep it at low volumes.
    IMNSHO, that ain't gonna happen. You haven't bought 'em yet, why not just play by the rules the amp manufacturer set and go for the 8 ohm unit?

    It can and might happen depending on the quality of your reciever. I highly recommend going with a 8 ohm speaker; better to be safe than sorry.

    If you have a choice, it's better to match the impedance of the sp w/ith the amp. There are plenty of amplifier topographys that'll play a mismatched output with no problem, but there's no way to know that until you do that. Generally a lower Impedance speaker will draw more current and could blow the output transistors if you were to crank it up to it's max. You could prevent that by putting in some lower amp fuses in the output circuitry... if it's set-up for that.
