Talking If you could have a theme song... what would it be?

Okay, you're living your everyday life. If you could have a "theme song" playing behind you.. A song that would mark your entrance onto the stage of life or hight light dramatic moments, what would it be?

Mine is the theme from "The Men" a short lived 70's crime series with a great theme from the Master Issac Hayes. All wah wah's and horns. When I hear it, I feel..... Invincable.

that's a tough one worfster.... my moods change so much i'd have a few... but maybe as an underlying theme, i'd definitely want either john williams, hans zimmer or james horner to score it! now that would be fun, have the london philharmonic following me around with one of those three in the lead composing as i go.

although if i HAVE to pick... might go with the gladiator theme by zimmer, or thomas newman's theme to road to perdition.

Only 1 song? Tough to pick...almost went with "O Fortuna!" and thougth briefly about "Thunderstruck", but I'm not much of an AC/DC fan so it didn't stick...
"Gonna Fly Now" was a close runner up, but in the end I had to pick...(ahem)

Risin' up, back on the street
Took my time, took my chances
    Went the distance
Now I'm back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive

So many times, it happened too fast
You trade your passion for glory
Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive

    (chorus)
It's the eye of the tiger
It's the thrill of the fight
    Risin' up to the challenge
    Of our rival
    And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
And his fortune must always be
    Eye of the tiger

Face to face, out in the heat
    Hangin' tough, stayin' hungry
    They stack the odds
Still we take to the street
Fot the kill with the skill to survive

    (repeat chorus)

Risin' up straight to the top
Had the guts, got the glory
    Went the distance
    Now I'm not gonna stop
Just a man and his will to survive
    (Repeat chorus)

    Theme w/ 10 Song Soundtrack....

Monkeyman - Rolling Stones (or is that obvious?)

& a 10 song soundtrack - (just quick off the top of my head)
    1. Monkeyman
    2. Working Man - Rush
    3. Ring of Fire - Johnny Cash
    4. Voodoo Chile - Hendrix
    5. Grace - Jeff Buckley
    6. You Got Lucky - Tome Petty
    7. Paranoid - Sabbath
    8. New Year's Prayer - Jeff Buckley
    9. Thorn in My Pride - Black Crowes
    10. You Can't Always Get What You Want - Stones

And for some reason, A Fistful of Dollars would be the underlying score.....

OK - probably just my mood for now - that soundtrack always changes.
But the first & last song would remain the same no matter what.....

it may be heresy, but i really like the Social Distortion cover of Ring of Fire, and really LOVE the Johnny Cash cover of NIN's Hurt.

I agree on both counts - Social Distortions Cover would be my closing credits
& Cash's Hurt would be the bonus track

For my badass moments I'd pick "Fireball" by the Fireballs - a great guitar-driven instrumental group w/a Tex-Mex flair from the 60s that made The Ventures sound like a kiddie band. Here's a link for a taste of my badass theme music:

For my "fun" moments when I'm cruisin' the Mediterranean coastline in my convertible Italian roadster, I'd pick Droge CX 9, the opening track from Vampyros Lesbos: Sexadelic Dance Party.

    This is a great question!!!

The song that immediately came to my mind was Hold On by Triumph. I have always found the message in this song to be very inspirational. That it uses my first love, music, as a metaphor just compounds how appropriate this song is for me.

Music holds the secret, to know it can make you whole
It's not just a game of notes, it's the sound inside your soul
The magic of the melody runs through you like a stream
The notes that play flow through your head like a dream

I sing this song for the common man and the people in dispair
I bring my song into the world and I sing it everywhere
The simple truth lies waiting here for everyone to share
So hold on and I will take you there
Hold on and I will take you there

The daily routine takes your soul, lost without a trace
It holds you down and turns you round and puts you in your place
Another day, another dollar, another pretty face
Another chance to lose yourself in the endless race

Hold on, hold on to your dreams
Hold on, even though it seems
Everyone around you has their little schemes
Listen to your heart and hold on to your dreams

Can't you feel the magic, feel it everywhere
Can't you hear the music, there's something in the air
    There's a celebration, deep within a song
Celebrate this feeling, you know it can't be wrong

Caught up in routine, you got to break it
Time won't wait for us, we got to make it
Fate gives you the chance, you've got to take it.

If I can't have this one, then I would like Danny Elfman to write something light and quirky for me, a la Edward Scissorhands.

You and Kam consistently provide the most obscure and intruiging post responses of anyone I've ever run across. Good God man where do you find this stuff?

There was a time in my life when I had too much time (unlike today when it seems there's never enough). A buddy of mine and I spent our free time mining film and music over a 3 1/2 year period. We learned and collected just about everything there was from the surf/rockabilly/instrumental groups of the 50s & 60s BEFORE Tarrantino revived the genre with Pulp Fiction. We dug through tons of lounge/exotica/space age bachelor pad music BEFORE the revival hit the mainstream. We seemed to be ahead of the pop culture curve for a while. It was hard work back then. The internet was still slow as Christmas, there was no such thing as dvd and most of the stuff we were looking for was either bootlegged or imported. Now this same stuff is all over amazon.com.

I found The Fireballs at the same time I was mining instrumental groups and building up a vinyl collection. Sundazed records had just emerged and they had 2 Fireballs albums on colored vinyl.

I can't really remember how I got into Eurotrash films but I found the movie Vampyros Lesbos by learning of Jess Franco. Motel Records originally released Vampyros Lesbos: Sexadelic Dance Party which includes music from Vampyros Lesbos and 2 other Franco films. Many of the music composers for European B movies were just as prolific and almost as talented as Ennio Morricone, but the movies they scored didn't do much here. A couple of examples are attached.

Those days are gone now. I can't keep up with any culture trends or anything new.
