Question What movie would YOU Make???

Wishy wishy time again campers. Sprinkle... I've now baptised you with magical pixie dust (not snot). For the next 3 years you have unlimited money to make any film or films you want in that time. It can be a new project, a remake of a classic (you better have one helluva reason though) or a remake of a film Hollywood screwed up the first time... Now's the time to let your mind and fantasies run wild.

I would like to remake The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. The reasons are: I was a huge fan of the book(s), the radio stories and the records that were released in the late 70's early 80's. Then I saw the first movie. Please, Marvin was a guy in a cardboard box spray painted silver. Then the updated movie last summer? It was pathetic. It could have been so much more. The original story had so many thought provoking turns and twists that were simply left out. I know, there's never enough room for it all. But I sure the heck wouldn't cut out the good stuff in favor of the crap they added. So much of what happens at the beginning, that makes no sense, starts to tie together things that happen later in the movie. It's all intermixed in a way that makes it seem like the light bulb is coming on in steps.
Put in a few good actors. Add a director with a clue. Through in a little cash for real (Star Wars type) special effects and you could have a movie that makes you laugh, cry, and sit at the edge of your seat.

Missing from the last movie and would be in mine:

1 - Ford says that we're about to jump into hyperspace. It's unpleasantly like being drunk.
Arthor replies, what's so unpleasant about being drunk?
Just then their bodies begin to deform as if they are turning to liquid and are being pored out of a glass onto the floor.
Arthur says a line that sticks with me and makes me laugh even now, his voice rising as he speaks to an almost chipmunk level "oh, I'll never be cruel to a jinn and tonic again!"

2 - When they arrive at Magrathier and Startybartfast takes them in to see the planet manufacturing plant. (ok, so this was in the movie. but it was done cheap!) a little special effects would go a long way here.

3 - Milliwaves, the restaurant at the end of the universe. (ok, this is book two. My movie though remember?) The cow that walks up to them at the table and asked them what part of him they would like to eat. Then goes off to be slaughtered and prepared. A classic to me. Ford and Trish couldn't eat. Zephod dug in!

4 - Marvin calls from the car port. Zephod asks him what's he doing there. Parking cars of coarse!

5 - This big getaway in the stage prop ship that's so dark that light falls into it. You can't even feel the surface. Totally frictionless.

6 - About to crash into the sun (special effects for the punk band who owned the ship they stole) Ford, "how many escape pods are there? Arthur, "zero, I counted them twice."

7 - The guy who kept being killed by Arthur. He would die and then be reincarnated only to be killed by Arthur again and again. Each time by accident. (Well, except for the time he came back as a clam and Arthur ate him.) He was even created as a bowl of flowers above a planet and fell to their death thinking only, "oh no, not again." This guy decides to trap Arthur and kill him back. But he traps him at a time before Arthur ducks just in time for a bullet to kill him again. The guy then realizes that he brought Arthur back "too soon" and it's now impossible for him to die.

phew.. did I write all that? RGA must be rubbing off on all of us.

You'll have to go to the movie to see more.
WARNING! - The Surgeon General has determined that, time spent listening to music is not deducted from one's lifespan.

    Cool My movies....

    I've a couple of movies I'd make/remake.

    1. "Stranger in a Strange Land" - First off I'd do the first real adaptation of "Stranger in a Strange Land". This Heinlein masterpiece needs better story telling than his last one "Starship Troopers". I'd try and get it right. Casting would be crucial and I think I'd need the "NEXT" Tom Hanks to play the lead, the current one's a little long in the tooth. I'd write the script and maybe have Speilberg direct.

    2. "The Shadow" - I'd go back to the pulp fiction heroes roots and make you care about this dissolusioned WWI Vet, who, while trying to drown his better nature, is rescured and shown his true path. Anyone associated with the first film will be shot or banished. Think of it as "Batman Begins" for a character that predated him. Tim Burton would direct.

    3. "Doc Savage - Man of Bronze" - See above for The Shadow, but Doc was/is a man of action so I'd need a body. I think either Vin Diesel or the Rock would make a good if not Great Dock Savage. Mike Tyson as Monk? Pierce Brosnan as Renny...
    John Milius would direct.

    4. "Spy Smasher Returns" - An update of the 1930's serial wherein the great grandson of the original spysmasher is trained as his great granddad was by none other then "The Shadow" to fight evil. Cept now he'd be tackling terrorists, corrupt politicians and Multinational Corporate Death Dealters. Don Cheedle would be cast as the new "Spy Smasher". I'd direct.

Although I'm young my dad got me hooked on some old skool monster flicks and comic book based cartoons.

    Remakes
    1. Jason and the Argonauts-1963 - Jason searching for the golden fleece. Fighting all kinda monsters. I LOVE that kinda stuff.

    2. Sinbad, any of em-60's and 70's - Again classic monster flics. Dragons, cyclopes and all that good stuff.

    3. Clash of the Titans - 1981 - Good stuff again. Fighting Medusa, giant scorpians, having a flying horse, a sword that can cut through stone and a helmet that can turn you invisible.

    4. Alien vs Predator - 2004 - I'd do the whole thing over. I played this video game like there was no tomorrow as a kid. They could've came up with a better story. Perhaps the Predator's space ship crash landed on the alien planet. A small group of humans were already there investigating the planet and somehow got caught in the middle of the fight. Give me better than the humans finding the weapons and the predator's get their a$$ kicked until one gets his weapon back then it's all over. Yes I'm pissed and yes I own the DVD, so sue my already .

    Make
So here comes the comic part.

I've always loved the old skool cartoons. Voltron, Thundercats, spider-man, batman, stuff like that. I would love to make/see a movie based on the Superfriends. Superman, Wonder woman, Batman & Robin, Aquaman, they'd all be in it. What the heck, I'd even have spider-man do a guest appearance. He did in the cartoons. Of course they'd be fighting the old Legion of Doom led by Lex Luther. From the looks of all the comic book based movies this dream may not be that far away.

I wish I could see a prequel (or sequel ) to the Scarface movie with Al Pacino. That was such a intresting charactor to be used in one movie only

If Hollywood decide to do it, I wonder how they are going to go about it. May be Al can play Tony's father (since he is too old to play Tony himself) when he is was in Cuba??

Are you describing the next plot for Scarface or Stars Wars

I really like the "unborn son" idea. That could lead to something (like Sonny's son in Godfather III)
