Roger Ebert's Best Films of 2009

An interesting list. He separates it into 10 films that his readers are likely to have seen and 10 that they may not have. I'm guessing the Nic Cage vehicle Knowing is not going to show up on many other folks' year-end lists. It's also nice to see him give a nod to Stellet Licht/Silent Light, which is surely not for everybody but is utterly unlike any film I've seen recently, which is saying a lot in this day and age.

The full list with blurbs on each is here:

    What! No images

That is a pretty good list considering haven't seen most of them. And like the way he split them into two catagories.

    Thanks.

    Thanks, Coop.

I haven't seen any of these yet which show the sort of cinema fanatic that I am.

Ebert's taste is far from congruent with my own, plus he over rates films more often than not. I miss Gene Siskel; there was a critic who recommendations I could rely on almost always.

Today he added lists for documentaries and animated films. I was surprised to see no mention of The Cove, which I've been looking forward to seeing. Still, a lot of intriguing stuff here to check out.

I really did like Ice Age 3, and The Fantastic Mr. Fox was just profoundly brilliant as was 9, Coraline and Nightmare Before Christmas. I am going to wait for the Blu ray of the Princess and the Frog and Ponyo.

I liked most of the movies I have seen on his list.
