    Ol Skool Monster films!!

Anybody like old school monster flicks?

I picked this up a couple of weeks ago for a nice price. It has 5 classic monster films. My favorite is Jason and the Argonauts.

Yeah, graphics have come along way, but this old school stuff sure does bring back some memories.

Anybody else into that old school Clash of the Titans type of stuff.

I'd love to pick that up! I saw The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad the other day and couldn't stop watching it! Or maybe it was Eye of the Tiger...

    Wanna closer look

So far I've watched The 3 Worlds of Gulliver and The 7th Voyage of Sinbad. I've been quit impressed with the picture. Each DVD has been digitally remastered audio and anamorphic video. 1.85:1 ratio. The soundtracks are mono . I went through a bunch of DSP's, but ended up just watchin in stereo. No it's not gonna blow your roof off (no subwoofer activity at all), but that's not the point, this is straight up old school. My dad got me hooked on this stuff. I gotta helluva deal from DDD. Buy one box set get one free. So I got this and the Rocky Anthology for only $42.91. I peeped this out at BB a few times myself and finally pulled the trigger when I spotted this sale. If you're a fan of old school stuff like this then it's a must.

Heck yeah! I'm a big fan of those Harryhausen films. I've had the Sinbad collection (7th Voyage, Golden Voyage and Eye of the Tiger), Jason and the Argonauts, and a couple of the sci-fi films Ray worked on (like Earth vs. the Flying Saucers) for years on vhs. I just haven't gotten around to getting them on dvd. (It's hard to keep up with all the available dvds and go back and replace my old vhs stuff.) I think what got me hooked on these films is that when I was in the second grade I bought some discounted movie passes for summer matinees. The films I remember seeing are Batman the Movie, Jason and the Argonauts, and Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger. My all-time favorites are Jason and the Argonauts and Golden Voyage of Sinbad with John Phillip Law and Caroline Munro.

I used to subscribe to FilmFax magazine which had several issues featuring Harryhausen.

I haven't had a chanceto get into all the extras yet, but I'm looking foward to it. I did watch a couple of trailers though and they were so funny. These trailers were like 2 minutes long. I'm use to the 15-20 second trailers we got going on nowsdays, but these just kept going and going.

It's very easy to see how far technolgy has come, but not one time did I care about the graphics are sound. I'm just sitting there watching these babies with a big smile on a face.

I still gotta add One Million Years B.C.E. and Mysterious Island to my collection.

    No drooling fellas
