    The next James Bond?
I just read that English Actor Daniel Craig will be the next James Bond (I guess Pierce Brosnan retired from that role). Is he the right choice?

If it was up to you, who would you nominate?

I would choose Alec Baldwin for that role. He got that smart, yet rough and determine look that role require.

watch Layer Cake, you'll see how incredible a bond he COULD be, depending on how much leeway they give him to make the character his own and not killed by the broccoli's if they turn him in to another brosnan type blandbond.

I'm not crazy about the choice. I was really hoping they'd pick someone like Clive Owens or even guy from the Transporter movies. Both have a bit of understated menace to them that Bond's character needs.

I believe Brosnan's contract was not renewed because:
    1) He wanted too much money
    2) He wanted too much control (he claimed he was never allowed to make Bond his "own" and despised the one liners prevalent in the movies)

Ever see the Highlander TV series a few years ago?
I always thought Adrian Paul would have been a natural for the Bond role. He might be a little long in tooth nowadays, though.

    Here's a thought....
Considering the current racial makeup of England, particularly London I think they should've thought outside the box.

A Jamaican, Indian or Chinese Bond would certainly have raised some eyebrows and stirred a lot of interest in what I consider a moribund franchise. Just thinking out loud.

The Transporter's Jason Statham would've been a hip choice. Even Hugh Jackman (I think he was actually approached) would've been cool. Don't know about this guy...

other than batman, bond would be the next franchise character i would love to play!! (although am praying i can play Bishop in XMen4, as long as rattner doesnt destroy the xmen franchise with x3) although if i were bond, it would have to end up being a comedy and i could do the shaken not stirred line in my best apu accent!

from what i read, brosnan was considered too old looking to portray bond b/c the next movie is from the 1st book in the series when bond was young. sad, b/c batman begins already did this same thing this year. anyways, sorry, but that guy doesnt look bond worthy to me. colin farrell was approached and rejected, same with clive owens and hugh jackman....this guy apparently is the best they could get.

Statham would be a nice choice, but he needs more hair. He does have that Bond swagger though, I only seen him in a couple of films, Transporter and The Italy Job flick.

Not too shabby, but who in the world recommended Jason Statham (was it you Defshep?) :D

One reason why alot of actors might turn down Jamed Bond role might be that they will be type cast as Bond forever. Not a bad thing, but may be it is for a young and upcoming actor.

Worf, I let you post picture of any Jamaican, Indian or Chinese Bond you had in mind :)

I'm a big bond guy. Saw all of them starting with the first one as a kid at the theaters. I'll wait until his first bond flick to judge. Try this; Why as kids were the bond films the only movies you would stay until the last of the creits rolled through? At least the first 15 or so did this.

Yeah. I think Statham captures the coolness of 007. The look may not be what some of us would call "traditionally" Bond, but maybe freshness would be good for the franchise. I mean, The Transporter movies were simply 007 knockoffs - if he were a criminal! And after the dismal Transporter 2, he could use a new franchise. Plus, the ladies seem to like him, so it would be easier to drag my wife to a Bond film!

You know who'd do a good job.
As a Bond of Indian extraction. Siddig from Star Trek Deep Space Nine. Or Doctor Julian Bashir. Hell, he's had plenty of practice doing a pseudo James Bond on at least 2 episodes of DS 9. The guy's a good actor as well. Suave, sophisticated and he can handle a phasor in a pinch. He gets my vote.

Worf shame on you, Dr. Bashir! please I wouldn't trust him with a butter knife. He's more like the sneaky double agent type always smiling in your face. 007 has to be more MACHO and sure of himself. I would pick Mike Myers (Austin Powers) over Dr. Bashir ...........lol

I would think the only contender as a female bond would be Anglina Jolie

I didn't see Mr.&Mrs. Smith but from her roles in Tomb Raider and the smith role I think she could pull it off. It may be the first 007 flick that gets a X rating. You all know 007 is always in the sack with at least one or two each movie. That may be worth the price of admission in its self (Anglina Jolie banging some guy for his help, I'll buy that for a dollar ....lol)

You're not thinking here, recoveryone. If they got Jolie to bang another Bond girl for info, shoot I'd buy that for TWO dollars! :D:D

FWIW, she was excellent in M/M Smith. Angelina + guns = mmm, mmm, good!

I think you and Recoveryone have spend too much time reading Worf's latest porn poll, and even corrupted GMichael's mind with his threesome and foursome commnet :D
