yeah i'm pretty sure he said "IT" and not "him" as well.
now for a new theory (addendum to my hurley 'unleashing pandora's box theory') spawning out of the libby/lizzy issue (it's got tons of holes i know, but eh, why the hell not, we got 5 months to wait till season 3....)
What we know/dont know from what we've seen about libby/lizzy:
With the tailies? yes.
Why in Aussie? Don't know.
In the nuthouse with hurley? yes.
Crazy? don't know.
Met desmond? yes.
Husband really dead? don't know.
Could libby/lizzy be a widmore mole? she did mention her husbands name was "David" the same name as hurley's imaginary friend in the nuthouse.... so here's the theory...
Widmore/Hanso knows about the island and its almost like a DBT where they need to keep whatever is going on in there pure (ala quarantines etc). The guy in the nuthouse (did we ever get his name? and what was kelvin's partners name? its not this guy is it? even though kelvin said he killed himself?) 'escaped' from the island. he somehow had the information and yet managed to leave (did he take the 3-25 quardinates as michael might?). widmore/hanso knows that this guy has left with the island's "Secret" aka the numbers. So they send someone to keep track of this guy - libby. libby watches this guy interact with hurley and so keeps her eye on hurley. hurley uses the numbers to win the lottery, unleashes pandora's box.... etc.
Now why is libby a widmore mole? Who the heck offers a complete stranger the boat their husband, who just passed away a month ago, named after them???? widmore knew kelvin was going to try and win that race, and knew he didnt have any money to do it... enter the deus ex machina for demsond in the form of lizzy. maybe that boat had an off compass or something that was meant to bring it to the island (unlike the other crafts which the island brought to it), des may be the one "X" factor on the island that has thrown everything out of whack:
He kills kelvin.
He breaks quarantine.
He crashes flight 815.
what widmore didnt know was the strength of the love his daughter had for kelvin, even if he believed kelvin would run, i dont think he'd count on his daughter to follow and use her portion of the vast widmore wealth. she might not even be looking for desmond, but instead knows her dad's the reason that's come between them, and so may think that desmond is lost BUT she can at least find out what her daddy's been upto with the whereabouts of this secret island...

Wow, what a show.
I really enjoyed seeing how the various parts got put together. With Charlie living, I have a feeling that at least Ecko and Locke have survived. It is unlikely that he would have far enough away on foot to escape any type of serious explosion. And his lack of understanding what Claire was asking sort of bears that out.
I am less inclined to belive that Ecko would have survived the first blast w/dynamite.
I have a feeling that we are not done w/Micheal. I agree that somehow he will pair up w/Syiad. However, I doubt he would ever be able to join back w/tribe.
The look on Locke's face was priceless as he realized what an a**hole he was to have broken the computer. "I was wrong"
I also liked the horrible pun when Ecko asked Charlie if he "knew where the other entrance to the hatch is" and Charlie as he is playing his guitar said "no, but maybe if you hum few bars".
Wonder what was in those darts that they shot the 4 with. They did seem to writhe a bit as they went down. Not sure if that is standard w/traqulizer darts. Any vets out there?
As in animal MD, not service members.

According to Des when they found him, backtracking his course and speed that would put the position of the island just north-west of Pitcairn Island. And we know what happened there. Also a few hundred miles from Easter Island.

My head is officially spinning...
Do you mean Desmond, when you say Kelvin in the above paragraph?
Kelvin's partner's name was Rozinski. Don't know if the spelling is correct, but I wrote it down as soon as he said it.

This evening, I was talking to a friend who doesn't watch lost. She asked me what Lost was about and I said, "Well, it used to be about a group of people who survived a plane crash, but I'm not sure that's an accurate description anymore".
I was just reading an article on the internet and came across this quote...
'If you think you're still watching a show about people who crashed on an island, you're watching another show.' There's a lot going on, and as we move forward, ... we're getting deeper into the center of the onion."
Here's the full article. It's about S3 and pretty interesting. No spoilers so don't worry...

Edit: Just found another great article on the best and worst moments of Lost. When you're finished click on the related story link for "Answers We'd Like To Find in the Finale".
What are your own best and worst moments? A few of mine are...
Best
Locke: We're going to have to watch that again.
Charlie: Are you going to hit me with your Jesus stick?
Sawyer reading Are You There God, It's Me Margaret
Worst
Hurley hiding food. C'mon, did he think that no-one would ever find out?
Kate and Jack's kiss. Boooooo. Kate and Sawyer make a way more interesting team.
Sayid and Shannon hooking up. She wouldn't give him the time of day in the real world. I'm surprised that he would fall for someone so shallow.
I know I have more, but I'm tired. Good night.

One more thing and then I'm logging off. I promise.
Amazon.com shows a release date for the Season 2 DVDs of October 3, 2006. Damn, I was really hoping to rewatch S1 and S2 before S3 starts. Doesn't look like that's gonna happen. :incazzato:

Doh!! yes, totally meant desmond, had a mind fart there. Although.... if it ended up that Penelope married kelvin before he shipped off to iraq, now that sure would be interesting....
and wasnt penelope mentioned somewhere else in the Lost experience, i thought i found the info that penelope was somehow related to hades, and hence all the greek mythology references on the map that kelvin was drawing (ala cerebrus, here there be dragons, etc)?

I think that you're confusing Penelope with Persephone. Persephone is the name of the chick whose message you get when you sign up for the newsletter on The Hanso Foundation web site, which so far has turned out to be a big bore.
I laughed my ass off reading your episode desciptions. "ana lucia gets dead, libby gets almost dead, michael's an ass"

Hey guys, it looks like there's more to those commercial web sites than meets the eye. Apparently, they're part of an international internet game called The Lost Experience. Go here for more information.

My favorite quote was "you and me ain't done, zeke" by Sawyer...
and Henry's "Him??? He's NOTHING"
don't know why...just left lasting impressions.
Henry is a great character-the actor that plays him is PERFECT.
Locke gets my nod for best actor on the show. Then Sawyer.
Worst Actor: Anna Lucia. She was terrible, IMO. Loved the character, hated the execution. At least Shannon was a believable prima-donna. The tough tortured girl thing just came across as too phony to me.
Don't really have a favorite episode, they all fit together too much for me, it'd be like asking what was the best chapter in a book?
The best conflict was Jack and Locke. Charlie's little spat with Locke was old news.

That was my favourite conflict too. Ana-Lucia put it best when she said, "Jack and Locke are too busy worrying about Locke and Jack".
Another great line that Kam reminded me of...Sawyer standing up tall and saying, "there's a new Sheriff in town". Too bad that never really went anywhere. There was some great opportunity for really good Jack/Sawyer conflict, and for Charlie to actually become interesting by turning evil. But it really never went anywhere. At the end of the day, Sawyer had no sizzle and Jack got what he wanted (no sizzle doesn't mean that he's not hot, though. :wink5: )
Favourite back story: Jin and Sun. I just love how they showed Sun's side and made Jin look like a real *******. Then they show Jin's side and...total paradigm shift...Jin is a great guy just trying to do the best he can, in a bad situation, for the woman he loves.
Best "holy shiit" moment: A tie. Finding out that Sayid dug up the body of Henry's wife, only to find the real Henry Gale. And, of course, Michael shooting AL, Libby and himself.
Best "what the hell" moment: The black light map.
Best/Worst Actor: Agree with Kex here. Henry for the best. AL for the worst.
Best/Worst Character: Henry for the best. Charlie for the worst. Charlie's a bit of a wuss for a rock star. At least he was interesting when he was addicted to heroin. Now he's just a big bore.
Question that I most want the answer to: How did Locke end up in the wheelchair. C'mon it's been TWO years! Tell me already!!! :incazzato:
Things I'm looking forward to in S3 (or later): Seeing more of Fake-Henry. Learning more about The Others (it looks they have some issues of their own). Assuming Locke is alive (and I think he is), will he still be able to walk now that the magnet is, presumably, blowed up real good. The reunion of Alex and Danielle.

Did the magnet thingy get blowed up real good, or was Desmond's key just the master shut down device for the Dharma station? I'm guessing that magnetic energy stuff is still part of the island, and the station was just a way of discharging it, so if the station is toast the energy remains behind?
It'd make for an awefully boring Locke if he had to crawl around everywhere.

It looks like Season 2 is starting over tonight with the Losties peering down the hatch. So my problem is solved. Since I kept the tapes from the 2nd half of S2 (but not the 1st half, don't ask me why), I can tape the first half beginning tonight. I can begin watching the S1 DVD and then watch S2 on tape. Yippee!! :cornut:

geeeeeeeez.... someone's being a tad bit obsessive about the show.... gawd!!!

Ok, Ok...
...Was there an explosion? An implosion? What do magnets do when they build up a field that needs to be bled-off? Actually, I don't think a natural source of magnetism would do that...it's just sort of there, in stasis...but I'll suspend my belief for the sake of argument.
While a hatch did come a-tumblin' down from on high, I don't think it was from an explosion...I mean we didn't hear one did we?...only a noise that would probably pin our Ratshack SPL meters...Was it sorta' like an MRI going into overload? Rapid polarity switching of a magnetic field could cause metal to take wing...I think it's the operating principle of Mag-lev technology...so if Eko and Locke were far enough away from potential shrapnel and there doesn't seem to have been a ka-boom in the Alfred Nobel school of ka-booms, might they still be alive...Locke has sorta' been a valuable enigma in the plot lines all along and now Eko is falling into that category, so unless there's more pertinent backstories or some spectral visitation in the works, why would the producers lose them?
And as far as Desmond and the boat that goes nowhere...this may be a DUH! moment...magnets ring a bell? if he didn't have GPS and relied only on a compass heading that may be why he's back from whence he came...And not knowing what was happnin' back at the shack (the not-so-silent, ka-boom-less event), tellin' Michael and Walt to keep to a specific bearing may have just been a cruel joke...Hey, we kept our bargain, you got your son AND your boat, but golly gee welcome back...consider yourselves rescued...all bets are off, time to re-negotiate...we want the boy...now of course there may be an unforseen fly in the ointment.
Also, if the hatch is now off-line at nut-case central (somewhere) will there be some sort of investigation by the ballon-launchers?
Four toes? Is Homer Simpson actually God? Maybe Fred Flintstone...Did someone say Eric Von Daniken?
jimHJJ(...jus' wunnerin'...)

I think you're right. No firey explosion of the ka-boom kind that would kill Locke and Eko. I think that they're alive and well. There's too much good conflict between Eko's faith and Locke's lost faith to just let it go like that. I would be very disappointed if the conflict was ended in that way. It's too easy.
Besides, we still need to see Locke's back story of how he landed in that wheelchair!!!

I don't even think Desmond is toast...I have a feeling that key acts more like a reactor shut down than a self-destruct sequence. Maybe that hatch still....uhh...works???
Anyone else think Sun is inevitably going to be kidnapped, and her baby "probed" and experimented on, as they did with Claire, Rouseau's baby, Walt, etc??? Me thinks a good chunk of the "Others/Hostiles" are kidnapped babies all grown up.
Could the Island be Walt Disney's dream of the "Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow?" (minus the cool giant dome?)

I totally think that. I think that's why the writer's put her on the boat with Jin and Sayid. So that The Others could kidnap her.
Here's another thought on the hatch. Is this what The Incident was? Someone left the hatch for too long and the clock counted down to zero, then something really bad happended, like the whole thing blew up. Or a plane crashed on the island. Or something like that. That's why the protocol was changed to have a team of two in place, working in shifts. So that the button never had to be left alone. Did Locke create another incident? Or, did Desmond and his key help to avoid another Incident?
So, we know now that he button was not an experiment, it was real. But what's the story of the people filling in the unread notebooks? Was that just an experiment? To see how well two people can exist while just observing other people?
Nothing is what it seems. :cornut:

Hmmm, seems most of these characters are orphans or abandoned kids in some regard - Kate and her mom, Locke and his Dad, Jack and his degenerate father, Sawyer and the tragedy...
Hurley's family was good though, wasn't it? Jin and Sun obviously had their family issues....seems most of these guys came from disfunctional families in one manner or another.

You missed the Echo story? A group of bandit types raided the village they were in. Killed most of the adults and took some of the children. They were going to take Echo's smaller brother but first they wanted him to kill an old man. He couldn't do it and the bandits were getting upset. Echo grabbed the gun and killed the old man so they took him instead. He grew up with them and eventually became the top bad-ass killer. Look a few links up for Kam's list to see what episode to look for. It leads into the old plane that they found on the island full of drugs.

Yeah, I remember that...just wasnt' sure if he was an orphan or infact kidnapped. he might have just been a bad ass growing up?
