holy minkey!!! what an episode!
so, beyond the obvious holy minkey moments... did claire drive a blue jeep to the pyschic's house? is claire jack's sister? or would it be really star-warsianly delicious and have jack and kate be brother and sister? and did ana-lucia call him "dad" when he was getting out of the car to go drink with sawyer?
and with FH... this one group of Other's at least numbers.... 23. although i wonder if Michael was including himself in that 22. so exciting!!!!
-
holy minkey again!!!
http://thehansofoundation.org/
they completely overhauled the site. this show is going nuts! and i bet we find out some connection to Liddy Wales (board of directors on the hanso foundation).... woh, am about to lose a couple of hours of worktime now.... crap.
-
So THAT's what happens when you get a DUI and have to serve jail time!
Today's Unity word is "Sobriety," boys and girls. Learn it. Live it.
All kidding aside, all of the smart denizens of this site already knew Michael was a traitor so that wasn't a huge surpise. Capping Libby and AnaLucia...OK, that was surpising :yikes:! At least Ana went out with a bang, both literally and figuratively (think Sawyer). What was the script that Sawyer was reading anyway? They showed the title way too clearly for it to be meaningless. Also, what does Hurley do now that Libby bought the farm? Does he regress and go bananas again? Seek revenge? Eat himself into oblivion? Should be interesting.
HOLY CRAP!!! Sign up for the newsletter on the hansofoundation site! WTF?!?!

Who's Persephone? What's the password? Somebody help!!!
Also, what country in Africa has been deleted in the Mathmatical forcasting part? Where is Mr. Ecko from?
edit: password = breakingstrain
edit: send Joop a message
Hang on and have fun :). Seriously cool site.
-
"Bad Twin" is the name of the script and the cool (i guess kinda cool) thing the creators are doing is releasing the book. the 'author' of the book is someone who died in the crash and the book bad twin is being released under his name. so you can actually buy the book and see what happens or if it has any other clues in it. not sure who the actual author of the book is, but the credited author will be a passenger on flight 815.
persephone was the queen of the underworld, which fits in with the cerebrus mention on the wall. also pretty interesting about the Orpheus in the underworld connection, showing mercy once, allowing orpheus to take one soul out of hades... (michael taking walt away from the others?)
i still think FH is the head other now more than ever.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persephone
alrighty so i watched the "live webcam" on joop for a good while (please, dont ask me how long) and nothing happenned! tried sending him a few messages but i kept getting the 'connection timed out' message, trying to find what the codes are....
-
woh, joop goes a little 28dayslater at the end of that persephone login! (thanks for the post topspeed!!!!)
whats with those letters about meningococcal strain? isnt that viral menengitis? and the research facility in zanzibar?
and maillot? was anyone who worked with jack named dr. maillot? or dr. thompson? good googlymoogly gonnna have to go back and watch all of season 1 again.....
and what was the name of michael's wife's lawyer in the divorce? wasnt johnson was it? although why a divorce attorney would become general counsel to the hanso foundation is beyond me... but then again, so are why polar bears would live on a tropical island...

Here's the letter from thehansofoundation.org:
Global Welfare Consortium 19 September, 2005

Switzerland
To: Dr. Roderick Johnson, M.D., Ph.D., Clinical Director,

From: GWC Executive Committee
RE: Violation of Ethical Guidelines / The Hanso Life-
Extension Project
CC: Mr. Peter Thompson, Vice President, General Counsel,
The Hanso Foundation; Hugh McIntyre, Vice President and
Communications Director, The Hanso Foundation
Dr. Johnson:
We have received word of an unfortunate and most alarming
issue in the past days concerning research operations by
The Hanso Foundation in the sub-Saharan region of Africa.
Sadly, we have exhausted our mandate as a watchdog
organization and must petition you for a formal
investigation.
It has come to our attention that a new strain of
meningococcal disease has been reported in the coastal
villages of the United Republic of Tanzania. This strain
is particularly alarming in that it has successfully
breached the simian/homo sapiens barrier.
As the enclosed documentation and correspondence
demonstrate, we have repeatedly asked the Executive Board
of The Hanso Foundation for assistance in determining the
possible correlation between the outbreak of this
transgenic disease and the research being conducted on
primates in their Experimental Station in Zanzibar.
As our requests have been met with utter and complete
disregard, we feel we have no other choice than to demand
your immediate intervention.
As the Hanso Foundation is using primates to research gene
therapies intended for human use, the correlation should
be obvious…
Considering the alarming nature of this outbreak and
the mounting death toll it is imperative that The Hanso
Foundation immediately open the doors of their
Experimental Station for inspection and, should a link be
found between their work and this disease, cease and
desist their activities immediately.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
Lives are at stake.

Director General, GWC Executive…

To: Dr. Roderick Johnson, M.D., Ph.D., Clinical…

From: GWC Executive Committee
RE: The Hanso Foundation Life-Extension Project
Dr. Johnson:
Please consider this a formal apology for the heated and
alarmist tone of our previous correspondence, as well as a
formal request for the withdrawel of former Director General
Jacques Maillot’s request for an intervention into the
affairs of the Hanso Foundation.
In the time since Monsieur Maillot’s letter, GWC’s
inspection team has been welcomed with open arms into The
Hanso Foundation’s Experimental Station in Zanzibar. Our
thorough examination of the Station has made it clear that
the benign, non-invasive research being conducted there
could not have possibly resulted in the outbreak of a
transgenic virus.
Because we appreciate the CDC’s willingness to intervene
when lives are at stake, the last thing we want is to abuse
our close relationship with your organization — or sound
alarms before the need is absolutely clear. Once again,
please accept our apologies, and our appreciation of your
diligent response to our correspondence.
Mr. Peter Thompson, Acting Director General
Global Health Consortium
THEN, AFTER CLICKING ON SIGNATURE, IN RED BLOCK LETTERS THAT OVERWRITE THE LETTER, AND SCARY MUSIC SHIFTS:
"The Hanso Foundation, setting world speed records for subverting authority."
Make sure you listen to that last part, it's pretty funny actually.

alrighty so i watched the "live webcam" on joop for a good while (please, dont ask me how long) and nothing happenned!
You must be kidding. I see all kinds of weird faces and shadows overlapping Joops face. BTW, make sure you login in again on the newsletter. So far, I keep getting "No new messages, bye, bye," but I'll bet there will be clues in there somewhere. Thanks again for the link to the site, my productivity hit an all-time low today ;).
Edit: Clicked on the World Map in the World Wide Wellness section. If you move the cursor over the Carribean, there's a hidden Hanso site. The weird thing is that it puts the red dot not in the Carribean, but in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Moving the cursor over the empty info bubble reveals a fading code. The code spells "Missing Organs."
OK, what the heck does that mean?

Holy Cow, my head is spinning from reading your posts. I was out of town on business and just got home. While I did watch Lost in my hotel room last night, I'm just catching up on your posts and will have to check out the new Hanso site tomorrow. I can barely keep my eyes open right now.
But, before I retire for the evening I have to ask....did anyone catch the commercial for the Hanso Foundation during the commercial breaks last night???? I'm gonna guess not since no-one's mentioned it. It was real short and almost over before my brain registed what it was. There was a toll-free number to call. I'm pretty sure that the number was 1-877-hansorg. I'll have to check my tape before I call it, in case I have the number wrong. I don't want to wake up some poor old lady if I have the wrong number. Although, what an old lady would be doing with a 1-877 number is anybody's guess. :ihih:
As for the manuscript of Bad Twin, I remember reading about that somewhere at the beginning of the season. It was an article about how Lost was going to introduce this book written by someone who died on the plane and the book was published post-humously (sp?). I've been waiting all season for the manuscript to turn up. To be honest, I thought that it would be a bigger deal.
So, how about Michael's little shooting spree? So, here's what I think the deal is...Micheal was sent back to the hatch to rescue FH. He shot AL because she was a threat to FH's survival. Then he shot himself to cover his actions. He's going to let FH go. Then he's going to claim that FH somehow got his hands on the gun, shot AL and then shot Michael and then escaped. Micheal will play along with being on-side with his camp and wanting revenge on The Others, but all the while Michael will really be spying for The Others.
Meanwhile, Locke will begin to wonder if FH's mission really was to come and get Locke. Eventually, Locke will go into the jungle looking for FH and The Others, because he thinks that being with The Others is his destiny.
As for Libby dying...Hurley will put it down to the continuation of his curse. That everyone who gets close to him gets hurt (or worse) and he'll become a recluse.
And now I'm very, very tired and must go. G'night.
-
Okay, as tired as I am, I just had to check out the Hanso web site. The bottom half of the site is buried under my toolbar and there's no scroll bar at the side. It's like the page is too big for my screen. Is there a way for me to adjust my settings so that the full page appears on my screen without being cut off?
I'm not very computer savvy so if anyone can help me it would be much appreciated. Thanks.
-
Here's a link where you'll find the Hanso Foundation commercial, the documents from the Web site, as mentioned above...and an MP3 recording of what, I'm assuming, are the messages from the 1-877 number in the commercial. There are some very interesting things in the messages. Enjoy....

Honestly, I switch over to AI during the breaks to see who gets eliminated. BUT, I did catch a bit of that and like you, it was almost surreal in that I was asking myself "Did that just say Hanso on the screen?" From lostblog.com, where I pulled the transcript of the letters, they say you can enter an extension and get a recording in Italian which, loosely translated, basically says to go to thehansofoundation.org, give the password (breakingstrain), and tells you to look for clues to the show.

The sheer brilliance of inserting this commercial just boggles my mind.
Although I watched the show on ABC at 9:00, I taped it from CTV at 7:00. I have run through my tape twice now, looking for the commercial...it's not there. It was only shown on ABC. Since the Canadian network inserts their own Canadian commercials, they must have removed the Hanso Foundation commercial. What a shame. That, alone, is enough reason for me to make sure that I only watch this show on ABC from now on.

Or tape the one from ABC.

couple things to try: simple, but in case ya hadnt thought of it, maximizing the screen, i didnt have any scroll bars on when i visited the website either, but maximizing the screen brought it all on the one page.
next thing can try is change your settings:
1. Right click on your desktop
2. go to properties
3. click on the settings tab
4. increase your screen resolution (should be at 1024 x 768, but might need to make it higher just to view the website, then can switch it back).
your desktop should look huge now with all the icons being really tiny. this should help.
lemme know if that works!! :)

The page was maximized. That's not the problem. I tried to increase my screen resolution. My resolution is only 800 x 600. I tried to increase it to 1024 x 768, but I just got a message saying "out of range" and it went back to 800 x 600. My moniter is pretty old...maybe I need a new one? I shouldn't really though, not just for one web site.

am on my mac at home now, so not sure what the exact sequence is, but the other option to try is going to tools on IE, or might be internet options, and the option there of text size or image size or something like that, can make things bigger and smaller in there, but you're right, normally shouldnt effect your web viewing in general unless you're noticing this on other pages. if its just this website... maybe dharma knows.... maybe... maybe they're watching us.... maybe.... the collective conscious is trying to... ok, sorry about that, i'm back. so try that last thing with the text size and shrinking it, might make things fit. lemme know if that works, i'll think up something else!
-
I tried that this afternoon...didn't work. Thanks anyway.

I found an MP3 on the internet of the first chapter of Bad Twins. The whole file is 16 minutes long and I don't have time to listen to the whole thing right now. But....I did listen to the first couple of minutes which is an audio note from the Editors of the book. The Editor speaks a little bit about the author, Gary Troup, and happens to mention that one of the reasons that Gary liked to travel to Sidney so often was that he was in love with an airline attendant named Cindy (I didn't write down her last name). Could that be the Cindy that was kidnapped by The Others while Ana-Lucia et al were making their way to the Fusies beach???

i wouldnt be surprised at all. makes sense too to have that be his connection to sydney. seems like the further and further they pull out, the more and more we see how interconnected everyone really is.

Here's the Editorial Review of Bad Twin from Amazon. I just love the last line of the last paragraph..."where to turn when all seems lost."
Oh, and by the way, someone pointed out that Gary Troup is an anagram for Purgatory. :yikes:
Book Description
Sometimes evil has a familiar face . . .
Paul Artisan, P.I. is a new version of an old breed -- a righter of wrongs, someone driven to get to the bottom of things. Too bad his usual cases are of the boring malpractice and fraud variety. Until now.
His new gig turns on the disappearance of one of a pair of twins, adult scions of a rich but tragedy-prone family. The missing twin -- a charismatic poster-boy for irresponsibility -- has spent his life daring people to hate him, punishing himself endlessly for his screw-ups and misdeeds. The other twin -- Artisan's client -- is dutiful and resentful in equal measure, bewildered that his "other half" could have turned out so badly, and wracked by guilt at his inability to reform him. He has a more practical reason, as well, for wanting his brother found: their crazy father, in failing health and with guilty secrets of his own, will not divide the family fortune until both siblings are accounted for.
But it isn't just a fortune that's at stake here. Truth itself is up for grabs, as the detective's discoveries seem to challenge everything we think we know about identity, and human nature, and family. As Artisan journeys across the globe to track down the bad twin, he seems to have moved into a mirror-world where friends and enemies have a way of looking very much alike. The P.I. may have his long-awaited chance to put his courage and ideals to the test, but if he doesn't get to the bottom of this case soon, it could very well cost him his life.
Troup's long-awaited Bad Twin is a suspenseful novel that touches on many powerful themes, including the consequence of vengeance, the power of redemption, and where to turn when all seems lost.
Bad Twin is a work of fiction and all names, characters and incidents are used fictitiously; the author himself is a fictional character.
About the Author
Bad Twin is the highly-anticipated new novel by acclaimed mystery writer Gary Troup. Bad Twin was delivered to Hyperion just days before Troup boarded Oceanic Flight 815, which was lost in flight from Sydney, Australia to Los Angeles in September 2004. He remains missing and is presumed dead.

not that we needed any incentive.... but....
reported on imdb:
Lost co-creator J.J. Abrams, who temporarily left the series to direct Mission: Impossible III, says that those who took over the show have created an "incredible" season finale, due to air on May 24. In an interview with the New York Post, Abrams said: "The ending of this year in Lost blows the ending of last season out of the water." Abrams gave no hint about how the episode will unfold. "It's not out of the blue," he said, "but what happens at the very end of this year, for me, it's the greatest finale I have ever heard."
-
Lost Season Finale
Yeah, I can only imagine how good it will be. The writing is very tight, and the acting is quite good. Can only hope that Walt gets out.
Interesting to see how things are shaping up.
