After the popularity of the new remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre in theaters, Pioneer Entertainment re-released the Special Edition DVD of the original Tobe Hooper film. While I paid 20 bucks for this thing, with ground beef packaging on the case and all, I dont know if it was wisest decision I ever made in this hobby...the box claims a Superscan transfer cleaned up this film...okay, it does look better than any VHS version, but the audio? Wow, thats another story altogether. The box claims a NEW Dolby Digital Stereo Surround track was created; this mix was so horrible I needed to turn my receiver to almost 67 on the volume display to get any kind of intelligible sound out of it..there are pretty much no surround effects, and the whole thing just sounds bad.

Anyone else buy this DVD yet?
