    Greatest "LARGER THAN LIFE" Monsters

I'm talking about the big boys, not vampires and werewolves, city killers. What/who do you like best? Let a fellah know...

Personally, my vote goes to Daryl Hannah in Attack of the 50' Woman. Once I worked through the feelings of woeful inadequacy, things could be interesting!

Since I couldn't vote for her, my vote goes to the King. Faye Ray, Charlize Theron, and now Naomi Watts in Peter Jackson's remake.

Tough call to choose between the giant Ape or the giant lizard. Let's go warm blooded this time. At least there was a hot babe in it.

Harryhausen rules! I still love watching the stop film animation. I would love to buy a complete set with all of his works.

Okay, I voted for Godzilla, because while Kong is a badass, he's only really a badass is you piss him off, or if he's hungry, whereas Godzilla is a 24/7 pissed off, gonna fry me some Japanese just for the sake of it badass.

There is a film where Godzilla faces off with King Kong.

Yes, I believe that was an allegory of Western monsters vs. Eastern monsters.

I remember sitting around a table in grade school arguing with my m8's about who'd kick who's ass. It was one knock down drag out fight, far more entertaining than King Kong vs. Godzilla which was about the silliest, low budget piece of tripe to come out of Japan that year. Kong looked like he'd been rolling around in camel dung and had a face that makes Cheetah look cute. It was dreadful avoid lest ye go blind.

    Another vote for the King.

We all rooted for him while he was swatting airplanes from on top of the Empire State building, and when he took the big dive, we all cried for him. No one ever cried for any scaly reptile.

King Kong ended with one of those great dramatic but dumb movie lines, "No it wasn't the planes, it was beauty that killed the beast". Although Charlize Theron would make me want to snatch her and climb a skyscraper, I think it was Jessica Lange in the 1976 remake.

Kong, all the way! By the way, Paramount is re-releasing the 1976 version (with Jessica Lange) on dvd November 22nd, the same day the 1933 flick is released. I'm sorry, I do have a soft spot for the '76 remake. I remember watching it on NBC as a kid (with lots of added scenes) and loving it! Yeah, it's cheesy today, but I'll probably buy it. Hopefully they've restored the scenes inserted in the television airing.

I voted for Godzilla. I like how he can recharge his self if he's losing a fight. Being able to shoot fire or whatever that stuff is isn't that bad either.
