    Burt Reynolds best films

Burt got his career start on TV including in Gunsmoke, and although he had alot of rough edges acting wise, he came to his own (and with mustach) in comedy roles in movies. These films are some of his best.

    Ranked by release date:

Deliverance (1972): One of his major dramatic role that brought him stardom.

The Longest Yard (1974): Don't care too much for sport movies, but in this movie Burt show his nacks for comedy.

Smokey and the Bandit (1977): This film solidify Burt as big star and arguably his best film.

The Cannonball Run (1981): With bunch of TV and film stars including Roger Moore, this film was very fun to watch.

Sharky's Machine (1981): Although the story was lackluster, the scenes in the police head quarter make this movie enjoyable.

The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982): With a cast such as Jim Nabors, Charles Durning, Dom DeLuise and Dolly Parton, this is one of funniest musical comedy.

Switching Channels (1988): A remake of the film Front Page, this film is very under rated. Burt performance hold the whole movie together.

Breaking In (1989): A very smart movie with Burt as old timer thief.

Boogie Nights (1997): Portraying porn director Jack Horner, Burt won Best supporting acting Golden Globe Award.

I liked him in Magnum P.I. LOL just funning ya Smoke. Seriously, no Gator flicks on the list? And, Deliverance should get a Mention as one of the top iconic or cultural impactful flicks.

I've always liked Hooper with Jan Michael Vincent and Sally Field. With Burt's movies, sometimes the co-stars make the movie.

Thanks for Gator and Hooper suggestion. Burt did alot of "car chasing&smashing" movies and thought Bandit and CannonballRun probably are his best in that catagory. Too bad neither Gator or Hooper are available on DVD.

That is so much true on his late 70/80s movies. Jackie Gleason, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis JR or Dom DeLuise comes to mind.
