    Boss Hogg of Dukes of Hazzard.
    Growing up with Dukes of Hazard TV show in the 70's, I thought Boss Hogg was one of funnies character on TV. He was funny, and kind of in-a-way charming. Unfortunately he died in 1997.

    Haven't seen the movie yet, but can Burt Reynolds deliver the same charismatic character as original Boss Hogg? He seem to gain a few pounds for this role-but going by previews, Burt don't seem as charming.

    May be I should see the movie before making any more comments :D

    I have no plans to see this movie, but I agree that the original Boss Hogg is a hard act to follow. He just oozed smug corruption in a very bungling way; it was great.

    i think Burt Reynolds is a stuck up elitist with no charm.

    Did you see when he slapped that reporter only because the reporter didnt see the movie he was asking Burt about? No class whatsoever :rolleyes:

    When I saw this it looked to me more like a playful tap that the media completely blew out of proportion.

    But I also agree that the original Boss Hogg is a hard act to follow.

    I had not heard about that. That's disappointing. I saw him not too long ago on IFC's Dinner for Five hosted by Jon Favreau (the guy from Swingers) and Burt was very charming and humble even though he carried that episode with his great inside-Hollywood stories. He didn't come across as boastful, but as sort of an older uncle to the younger actors around the table.

    Ditto on the orignal Boss Hogg. I think I watched every episode as a kid until they started changing the cast.

    Burt was also on Jay Leno show last week. He seem to have too many face lifts. After the show, Leno joked that Burt's face is tighter than Simpson's short she wore in Dukes of Hazzard :D

    Boss Hog was the epitome of the Uber Capitalistic American. LOL he was a hoot.

    We proposed a Dukes of Hazzard movie here a while back and decided to cast Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson as the Duke boys. There were suggestions for the other characters as well. Our version would have been a spoof along the lines of the Starsky & Hutch movie. Then someone announced that the idea was in pre-production and that some of the characters were cast. I think the collective idea that was proposed here would have been much better than what was actually made. Oh well.

    Or they could have brought back the original Duke boys for the movie also. They probably are in their fortys, but in hollywood where 60 year old Harrison Ford can be in action films, why not the guys in their 40s :)
