    Is Tom Cruise finished?

Considering the less than stellar box-office of his recent efforts... is Tom Cruise finished as an "A-List" actor in H-Wood? Just curious.

Good question. According to IMDB he has one film in post-production, one in pre-production and two "announced". My guess is the "announced" films might be re-evaluated. I'd rather see him in roles like his character in Tropic Thunder or in cameo roles. Small doses.

Dunno. I think he's grossly overrated but, so far, people pay good drachma to see his flicks. As long as that doesn't change, I guess we're gonna see a lot of him.

Personally, I never did understand the fascination with keanu Reeves either but, hey, what do I know. I mean, he was a natural for Bill and Ted movies because he simpjy played himself, but that's about the extent of hi acting talent, IMNSHO. He basically phoned in the Matrix trilogy and The day The Earth Stood Still but people eat his stuff up.

And, yes, I DID love Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder. ...and he's a better actor than Keanu any day, though.

If actors like Will Ferrell, Owen Wilson and Seth Rogen can find starring roles, there is still plenty of movies left in Tom Cruise.

For some reason, I find him more likeable now. I haven't seen any of his recent films, but I enjoy seeing him on talk shows. I think a nice role for him would be playing himself in something like the Hangover or other comedy where he has a run-in with the main characters. For example, the main characters accidently and unknowingly damage Tom Cruise's car and Cruise obsessively exacts revenge. "Is that TOM CRUISE following us? Why is he giving us the finger? OH ****!!! TOM CRUISE HAS A GUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Someone took me to see Cocktail and for some reason I watched Top Gun. That was enough tomcat for me. I never understood why but I never liked him. It may be strange to say this about an actor but he seemed fake.

I was going to start off my post by saying that I think that Tom Cruise is a good actor who picks roles that don’t require much acting. And for that reason, I don’t like him.

But then I went to IMDB and realized that he’s been in a lot of really great films. I loved him in Born on the Fourth of July and Magnolia (what a great role that was). Then I looked at IMDB and saw Rain Man, and The Colour of Money, and Vanilla Sky, and I realized that he’s not always the fluff actor that I was thinking that he was.

Is he done? I don’t know. He’s still pretty young. His name is still a draw. I suspect that he’s only done if he wants to be. I doubt that he needs to work for the money at this point.
