    Pioneer Cd changer problem

I have a Pioneer PD-f27 301 cd changer that always acts up. When playing a CD it will just stop playing . It will happen with new and old cd's. Sometimes it will play for a quite a while before it does this and other times it will do it after about a minute or so. Any help is appreciated

Frankly, sounds like a lemon. No clue why it should stop completely. Power is still on? Can you access any track you want at first? Does it stop more frequently on later tracks or early tracks. You are playing commercial CD's, not CD-Rs? I'd guess it's a bad drive...or that the lazer isn't tracking out far enough. Regardless, witht the price of a new one vs repair, I see a new player in your future. Bummer.

If you're adventurous, you can always try opening it up to see if there's debris (dust, hair, etc) in the gears or on the lens. Just pick up one of those canned air things and blow it around.

I think it is a problem with the laser. I took the cover off of it and played a cd. When it stopped playing, the cd was still spinning. When it does this the track number on the display will go to 0. After about a minute the cd will start over again from track 1. I have the service manual but it really doesn't have much troubleshooting in it, just lots of circuit diagrams.
