Suitable CD Player & amp/pre amp for my L35a Roger Speakers

I just got a pair of L35a Roger Speakers from my granddad. I believe he bought those speakers in the late 60s or early 70s. The speakers are old but the sound quality is simply superb.

I currently have a cheap CD player but it just spoilt and I am looking for a new or 2nd hand CD player and an amp for the speakers. Any recommendations on which brand/model I should consider??

What about a pre-amp?? Will the sound be improved if I get one??
