I've got a question about whether or not I can use the digital out on the oppo 980 HD and run it through the DAC on my Cambridge 840c and still get SACD stereo or will it only give me STD CD sound?

You'll get only the CD layer through the coaxial out. The 980H can be set to send a pure DSD signal via the HDMI out, but you need a receiver or prepro downstream that can decode DSD. I don't know if whether there is anything on the market yet that will do that, but certainly the Cambridge decodes only PCM.
